Monster Toy Spotlight #50: Red King

Postby Israha » Sun Jan 29, 2017 9:24 am

Until now, the Monster Toy Spotlight threads experienced severe lack of Ultra kaiju, so I decided to dedicate the jubilee 50th one to one of the most known and most infamous of them all, the mighty Red King!

Here is a couple of shots of my Ultra 500 Red King, which (for its price tag) is a suprisingly well sculpted and detailed figure.

Gotta love Red King! I had the EX version that came out years back. He was fun because he looked like Popeye! I'll have to dig him out; I don't know where he went.

Never understood his appeal. He never seemed all that powerful to me. That said I do like the Powered redesign.

I think Red King's appeal comes from his personality rather than his power level. He's not as strong as, say, Zetton, but man is he vicious in combat - a real bully of a giant monster.

Anyway, here's my 500 figure - that's all I've got at this point. There was a "soul of soft vinyl" figure released at some point I'm looking to obtain right now, though.

As Rody says, powerful - not so much, but with a whole lotta personality, for an Ultra kaiju. Violent, agressive and pretty dumb - just like a typical school bully.

EDIT: Here's a cool shot of 12 inch Biliken garage kit Red King
