Monster Toy Spotlight #40: Legion

Post by Rody »

I see we don't have much for Gamera's roster in the spotlight's yet, so here's one for his biggest, baddest villain of all. I do believe it/she/they celebrate(s) their 20th movie birthday this year!

I'll start it off with my beautiful Bandai:

Now post away! Keep in mind this is not only for mother Legion; soldiers and flowers are welcome too!

Yeah I only have one Legion but I am getting the Revoltech re-release when it comes out. Too bad I couldn't afford the new Xplus. Gotta save for my PS4 instead.

I did occur to me this might not be the easiest spotlight. Legion toys demand a fearsome price tag!

I'm getting the Legacy reissue as well. I'm pretty excited for it; I missed most of Revoltech's the first time.

Here's an online look at the Xplus Legion...but not the one you think.

This is the Xplus Legion from 2002 (back before they realized they could charge hundreds of dollars for these and get away with it  )

It's about 14cm long, so it would fit more in line with the 25cm scale figures.

^I recall seeing images of that figure before (probably while browsing Club Tokyo). It looks pretty nice; what does it tend to go for these days?

I've only seen it a few times, but it wasn't all that expensive (granted, the one I saw was out of its box/package). It was about 30-40$. Xplus also sold the soldiers separately, and I see those still floating around shops in Nakano Broadway/Akihabara from time to time...

Three sizes/styles of mother Legion: "classic" Bandai, Revoltech, and High Grade.

The High Grade is almost ridiculously small, but it doesn't lack in details.

Nice! I need to get him, he's currently my most wanted. A Monsterarts version would also be great, but I sadly doubt that will ever happen.

I bet a Monsterarts of the Legion mother would either be a thing of absolute beauty, or a total an utter disaster (that quality control, tho). Either way it would be stupidly expensive.
A Monsterarts of the soldier would be cool, too.
