Monster Toy Spotlight #18 - Titanosaurus

Postby KaijuZoo » Sat Apr 02, 2016 9:10 am

Kicking off a new spotlight week with the appearance of MechaGodzilla's enemy, Titanosaurus!!
This figure is well represented by the toy manufacturer's including Bandai, Marmit, Marusan and X-Plus etc so we should have a nice assortment of imagery to share.
Starting off, here is a M1Go glow Titanosaurus commission that I painted a while ago.

Awesome choice KaijuZoo! I've always had a soft spot for Titanosaurus, a very unique kaiju and worthy adversary for Godzilla.

My favorite Titanosaurus figure (and one of the most underrated):

Marmit MH Titanosaurus

Fantastic sculpt that just nails the character.

Does anyone around here have the "closed tail" variant? If so, please post some photos!

Wow! So many unique, colorful Titanosaurus toys. I had no idea things like this existed.

On a side note, can anyone explain why the Bandai toy is so expensive? I'm new to toy buying, but the prices on this that I see online seem a little excessive... no?

They are all out of production now, so whats out there is it. There are other Bandais that cost much more, but there havent been a lot of Titanosaurus figures, so the Bandai one is pretty sought after

How could i forget about a Marmit parababy?

Titanosaurus is one of my favorite kaiju of which I have no figures. Hope I can pick up the Diamond reissue when it comes out.

Love those parababies, they really capture the spirit of each kaiju :godzilla:

An online review of the Marmit Parababy Titanosaurus:

Here is a photo of various 6 inch scale figures I had, which includes the Bandai 6 inch Titanosaurus in the righthand corner (next to a 6 inch Y-MSF Gabara):

Image

It's no secret that I'm not a big fan at all of this scale (nor the 30cm scale), and a good majority of the 6 inch figures in this photo I no longer own and have sold off. I usually only collect 25cm/8inch scale (which I think is the perfect scale/size for G figures, but that's just me). Nevertheless, the Bandai 6 inch Titanosaurus sculpt is a sight to behold, and was perhaps the only 6 inch figure I ever had on my "must have" list and will not part with it.

This is the first, original Titanosaurus figure released by Bullmark in 1975. He was part of the Panorama set, which included the above Godzilla, King Ghidorah, Gigan, and Mecha Godzilla figures. For many years actually, this was the only Titanosaurus vinyl figure until M-1 released their figure in 1999. He's a rare figure, but in recent years I feel like he's been seen more often than before.

Great photos! As you might have guessed, I never met a Titanosaurus toy I didn't like.

Here's Marmit's Monster Heaven closed-tail variant, which I like to think of as the "underwater" version...
Image

...and here he is with a couple of friends. I really like both painted and unpainted Marmits.
Image

Here's the "Vinyl Wars" version of the M1, on the left. Love that paint job.
Image

There was a time back in the early 80's when the only Titanosaurus figure I'd ever heard of was the Bullmark mini, and I would have killed for one. These days, we have an embarrassment of riches!

Wow, the closed tail version  And you have *two* of them....I have looked for years for the closed tail Marmit MH Titanosaurus to no avail. Thanks for posting the photos! Both the Marmit and Marusan figures are great.

Another Online review of the Xplus 30cm Titanosaurus

Now if only Xplus would get around to a 25cm Titanosaurus figure...
