You know you're a Japanese toy collector when...

Post by Castellan Zilla »

Figured this would be a fun thread to list off the quirky toy collecting behaviors we all have. And maybe some we aren't aware that we have. Let's laugh at ourselves.

I think the biggest I've seen with myself is that I rattle off prices in Japanese yen. I no longer need to convert the price to usd to know if it's a good deal or not. SO EXPENSIVELY CHEAP!
I will explain slowly why you are wrong.

When her majesty's revenue and customs start charging your kidneys worth at every instance a figure hits our shores.

When you stare at frustration at your package's tracking because it's stuck in Customs.

I have just discovered the yen has about equal value to the Icelandic crown, a currency I'm a bit more familiar with from my travels. Now I too don't really need to convert!

... you have piles of boxes filled with 1.000+ figures in your attic or basement & you can tell exactly which particular figures are in each box, just by reading its' one-line labelling. At least this is when I feel really nerdy.

Hehe, I guess our basements must look pretty much the same then: when you open the door you feel like visting Erebor - just with boxes instead of gold & jewelry. And there's not one, but countless dragons - inside the boxes.

Which is why my figures are just standing, with no poses. My friends say it makes for a boring display, but if I make them pose...no more room for many of them!
