Monster Toy Spotlight #15 - Godzilla (1954)
It was a tie between Godzilla 54 or the original Ultraman. In the end, the Big G came out on top.
This is my all-time favorite Godzilla suit. I love the ferocity of the face and the jagged unevenness of the spines. It's a classic design that I feel deserves the spotlight.
Here's my current collection:
NECA
Bandai Creation (special honor to this figure: it was my very first Godzilla toy!)
Bandai Hyper Figure
Bandai Creation Pack of Destruction Figure

Re: Monster Toy Spotlight #15 - Godzilla (1954)
G54 is actually one of the suits I have the least figures of. This is partially due to me never really being truly satisfied with most of the G54 figures out there in 25cm/8inch scale. Maybe one day I'll see one in this scale worthy of shelling out money for. I'm not fretting over it, as I'm willing to be patient and wait until a good 25cm scale figure comes along.
I think this thread will definitely get bigger once the upcoming Xplus 30cm G54 figure along with the SHMA G54 figure come out.
In the meantime, here is a very crappy photo of the Godzilla54 Gashapon figure (Godzilla Chronicle High Grade Real Figure Set 1) , followed by a clearer photo of it from ClubTokyo:
Other than that, I do have the Marmit MH G54 Green variant, which is one of the earliest figures released in the Marmit MH line...it's so so.

Man, I love the look brown Banpresto. Pretty sure I even saw it at my local collectible store.
I will explain slowly why you are wrong.

Re: Monster Toy Spotlight #15 - Godzilla (1954)
Just curious, but how much did the brown variant set you back?
I've actually seen the normal grey variant quite often around Tokyo for rather low prices, but I've never laid eyes on the brown one, which I definitely prefer...
Never realized it was scuplted by Yuji Sakai...that explains why it was one of Banpresto's better efforts (I was never that impressed with their GFW Godzilla/GFW Gigan figures)...KaijuZoo wrote:Another look at the Banpresto G'54 which was sculpted by Yuji Sakai.

Re: Monster Toy Spotlight #15 - Godzilla (1954)
I think i wouldn't have paid more than $30 for it... but that was back in 2003 at an anime shop in michigan.. because of how the shop marketed it, i thought Yuji Sakai was a brand didn't realize that was the sculptor's name.. so i tried to find more and only found the G2K release on ebay... years later i figured out Banpresto was the brand for both figuresebirahsmeg1 wrote:Just curious, but how much did the brown variant set you back?

Re: Monster Toy Spotlight #15 - Godzilla (1954)
In terms of online reviews, there wasn't much in regards to the Banpresto Godzilla 1954, so apologies for posting a pair of kids' review of this figure (muting the audio works wonders, )
And here is a review of various Bandai 6 inch Godzilla 1954 vinyl figures:
If it's alright with UltramanGoji, I've asked Tyrant_Lizard_King to take Monster Toy Spotlight #16.
If he doesn't reply or doesn't want to do it, a list of contributors to past threads who haven't had a chance to do one yet: Kaiju no Mura, Mr. X, Leunames, Heartless. ArchdukeSquidlyIII, RandomDeinonychus, Manticore, Starsteam, Captain Aktion, SJM925, Kaijunator, LamangoKaijura, GodzillaXGomoraFight, DoctorMafune, ChunkyGodzilla(or someone totally new from this lest if they want to step up)
If no one steps up before the beginning of next week, then a past topic contributor can take it (expandkong, TeddyBaragon, g2vd, GIGAN05, AWMGodzilla62, KaijuZoo, Creature22, Castellan Zilla, SpaceG92, UltramanGoji) can take the next one...
*Edit* Tyrant_Lizard_King has confirmed he will do #16

I'm bumping this thread again, as I believe many people are starting to receive the next Xplus 30cm G54 figure w/ train in his mouth. Please post some pics of that bad boy here if you got 'em!
