Legends and G&G were really cool. They sure did back the wrong horse with KOM though

My library got ahold of the full volume of Gangsters & Goliaths, so I finally got to read this miniseries.

This is definitely an improvement over Kingdom of Monsters, from what I've seen. The story is quite interesting, and fairly well executed. The art, unfortunately, is mediocre at best, so there's no real improvement there.

I can't say I like any of the cover art for this series, other than Matt Frank's special (which, of course, looks amazing).

Ponticelli does a decent job at drawing the kaiju, but there at least one or two shots of each that look really bad.

Why, oh why did they use heisei Mothra?? X_X

There were a couple parts of the finale, like the henchmen turning against Takahashi & Nakamura's repentance, that seemed a bit cliche, but at least they didn't distract from the story too much.

Overall, this was pretty good. I eagerly await the full volume release of Legends!

Picked up my issues for this month along with DRRR! Vol 1. Cover I have is Art Adams' Titanosaur. They only had one issue left of Legends with same cover so I assume that the rest...were gone. Godzilla is selling well here I'm surprised how fast my comic shop sells out of them. :o

Still looks like garbage. :dizzy: Victor Dos Santos (along with Powell/Marsh) should *NEVER* be allowed near a Godzilla book again.

Screw the "Sequel to KOM" nonsense....the follow-up should be a completely new series and have nothing to do with this horrible story-arc. It almost seems at times that they're actually *trying* to make a awful G comic with this series.

I really enjoy IDW's Godzilla mini-series (G&G and G:Legends), but I have no interest in ever reading KOM of monsters again. And unless the "new" series is a brand new title and completely discards/ignores the current awful KOM storyline, I will continue avoiding this comic like the plague.

I don't know why more of the posters on here don't submit story-treatments/outlines to IDW.

Many of you obviously know how to, and seem to think you can, create the absolute perfect Godzilla comic that will please 100% of the fanbase across the board while making all of the seasoned industry professionals who have actually produced said material look like chumps and noobs.

I mean, if I had that kind of talent and insight into the sales and marketing labyrinth that is the comic book industry I sure as hell wouldn't be sitting in a forum merely talking about what I'd do and whining about how others are "doing it all wrong". I'd pull up my bootstraps and get to work and go make me some of that Mark Millar money, know what I'm sayin'?

Just, when you write your comics, guys, be sure that I like it, okay? I don't care if anybody else likes it or not, alright? This is Godzilla we're talking about and as a fan, my opinion is the only one that really matters, get it?

The thing is many fans think it's a horrible series. Not just one, not just two, but many. Also not a single person is asking it to be made exactly like they want nor are any others. Most just want a better comic period than the shit stain we've been getting. It doesn't have to please 100% of the fanbase, but it should appeal to the majority (Especially if that means IDW would make more money)

But a lot of people like it as well. All of my LCS's have them in stock when they come out and they sell fairly well, especially for a non big two publisher.
So what's your point?

I don't think it's very becoming of any of us on here to call a product that falls under the umbrella of our shared fandom a "shit stain". I personally felt like G&G ran out of all of it's good ideas after the first 2 issues, but you don't hear me decrying it as a "p***y fart" because, obviously, that's just stupid and unproductive. Legends is the best of the series, but only because it uses a gimmick to supply one-and-dones and doesn't have to suffer from the pitfalls that G&G or even KOM have to deal with. It's like comparing a sitcom to SNL; two totally different approaches that aren't really fairly comparable.

If the ending to Legends #3 happened in KOM everybody would be having a shit-fit about it, but in that series it's okay to JUST END. Whatever, guys.

Anyhow, what's the point in anybody bitching about it now? We all know it's changing anyways. It's over.

Maybe now everybody will get the Godzilla book they want. Or maybe it will be like every thing else in this fandom, some will love it, some will hate it, some will enjoy it just because it's Godzilla. Either way, realize what you're doing the next time you throw around words like "shit stain". You make all of us look stupid; no wonder IDW can't get a grasp on what it's fandom wants. They only want what they individually care about, apparently.

Okay now kiddies. Don't make the big guns fire away now. :P If you two are going to argue your daylights out, then take it somewhere else. I think there are even more people who aren't interested in two idiots pointlessly argue their butts off. So either stop or go somewhere else.

Umm...there's no need for them to go somewhere else. Their argument is on topic, so they're not violating any rules. And if they're not supposed to argue in a thread, then there's no purpose for there BEING a thread. Chillax, bro. No worries. ;)

But knowing CA, he would counter it, then you would counter, then blah blah blah. So I was saying before hand. Cuz I know for sure about CA blabbing his fanboy away.

Now here's truth: not everyone is going to like KOM. Heck, everyone just might dislike KOM. I personally find it to be a tad of a guilty pleasure for me and I like it. Artwork, while not the best, I've actually had confidence of drawing monsters now. So rather than hating like most other logical people, I give my thanks to Santos.

But I don't mind people liking it, but really I find it absolutely horrible, and believe that Godzilla deserves better treament
