Hesei MG w/ 2001 tag worth it?

Postby KiryuFreak » Sat Sep 18, 2010 12:19 pm

I'm thinking about getting MGII w/ 2001 tag, I'm not sure if it's the 50th anniversary version but is it worth buying? I saw the BC one and it's horrible.

Notice anything here? 3 years apart dude. If it costs any more than $50, don't buy. Get a newer re-release.

If it's under $40 it's probably worth it.

And yes, the BC version is horrible, but that's unnecessary, lol

Backin 2008 when I bought MG(If we are talking about MG2 from Terror of MG) then I kept seeing it go for about $75. For the same price, I got the Soul of Chogkin MG2, whicjh I am pretty happy with. If MG2 from Hesei, then I would say buy a newer one. I have the Bandai Creations MG2.

See this is where referring to the Mechagodzillas by the Toho designated numbering system gets really confusing and just plain ridiculous. The original poster calls it "Heisei MG" in the thread title but then refers to it as "MGII" in the body of the post.

I'm not blaming him for this but this aggravating numbering system of Toho's is asinine and effin' braindead. The Mechagodzilla from Terror of Mechagodzilla is "Mechagodzilla II", NOT the Heisei version. It says so right on the robot's arm.

Toho's probably is that they don't give a shit when it comes to renaming monsters and movie titles for US stuff. They hate us anyway, so they don't give a rat's ass how confusing they make it.

It's $30 so I guess I'll get it for Christmas.

$30?! And you ask us if you should get it?! The answer is yes...jeez.

Course I paid $25 for an 8'' Heisei MG w/o tag from the original release...

Wait, wait. You're talking about the 6' Heisei Mechagodzilla right? That one was only released in 1998 (with Godzilla Island and Toho Kaiju tags) and 2001 (with a Movie Monster tag). There was never one released for the 50th Anniversary.

To be honest, I'm not sure why you keep referring to a "50th Anniversary" one. Here's the listing for this figure from Club Tokyo...

And $30..? Eh, you could do worse, but you could do better.

No, it's not that one. Here's an image of it from monsterlandtoys.com it's actually where I'm getting it.

And the seller only says it's the 2001 tag, nothing else. So I don't know what size it is.

That is the newer 6" version. TBH, I think you can do much better price-wise for that. Just keep an eye on eBay and one will pop up eventually. There are a few up there now for a little cheaper depending on what shipping would be for you. Search for both Mechagodzilla and Mecha Godzilla.

So what's the difference between this one and the 50th anniversary version? The tag looks the same. Does it have the same features?
