Pretty much. The last supplies of cheap Gomoras at retail have dried up. It's strictly a secondary market item now. $100-150 is the going rate these days.

Yes, sadly a limited production run means that the cheapest way to purchase these figures is to buy them when they are new, or, better yet, up for preorder.

Fortunately with releases fairly well spaced out, that generally isn't a problem for those with a modest budget; things only start to get tough when web exclusives and out of print figures are added to the mix. :g2k:

I snagged mine for around $90 from Anime Jungle - their last one in stock too. Not the cheapest price, but it could've been worse.

Yeah, that's the problem with not being jumping on the train right from the start. If you're going to obtain these kind of items too late, they may cost you an arm and a leg with ease. Personally I missed out on Andro Melos, Jean-Killer and Zoffy... no way of finding them anywhere near their original price tag now... -_-

It was the Monsterarts that got me to start wanting to collect super-articulated figures. I've only recently made the desicion to start collecting Ultra-Act figures. Like 3-4 months ago. All I have is Baltan II so far, but plan on getting Ultraman 2.0 and Red King soon.
Oh, and I forgot about Zoffy! He was in the original Ultraman series, too, so I want him at one point. But he presents yet another challenge!

There is a possibility of re-releases down the line; after all, Tamashii Nations makes no money from the secondary market, and if there is a demand for another run then they have no reason not to print one.

Max comes out then, too. If I wasn't saving for Kaiju Combat I would have gotten him.

If he's good and KC doesn't make it, I will. He's still going to be around in a few months.
Hopefully.

I'm intrigued!

On the subject of Red King (and kaiju and bad guys figures in this line in general), what do you think the likelihood is of seeing more like him at this point? It has been a year since we saw Golza, and we have yet to see many of the villains that have been unveiled as prototypes at events (amazingly, not even Baltan I has been released). There is circumstantial evidence to suggest that the kaiju are less popular.

What do you guys think; will we see fewer and fewer kaiju releases as this line continues, or is this just a passing lull before the next set of villainous releases?

One or two kaiju per year certainly seems like a 'lull' to me. There seems to be a focus on humanoid characters in this line. Even the majority of baddies released are humanoid-shaped( Belial, Magma, Jean-Killer, Baltan II, Kyrieloid, Zamsher, Evil Tiga ), with only 3 tailed kaijus thus far( I know RK is #4, but he's not out yet ) & one of those was a web exclusive. Ace-Killer is probly' coming, & once again, humanoid.

Perhaps down the road we may see some Ultraman kaiju in SHMA to sate our hunger?

For some reason or another kaiju figures dont appear to be too popular. That's the only reason I can think of.

Gimme a m***** f****** Black King goddammit!

I think it may just be that villains aren't too popular; when the line first came out there were quite a few antagonists, but recently we've seen hardly any.

I'm happy with the heroes, but as a collector I'd like to own the bad guys as well. I've been hoping for Melba and Gan-Q, but with so few kaiju releases they seem very unlikely.

(A Black King would be great, I agree.)

I don't think we'll see any Ultra stuff in SHMA, since Ultra-Act exists in it's own line and the scales aren't completely compatible. Still, it's nice that SHMA has proven that articulated kaiju do sell (even the less popular ones.)

We do need some more monsters. The Ultras bore me... except for the original Ultraman. I want some more monsters. Personally, I'd like to see Zetton. And I want Baltan I to be released.

Black King may possibly come to accompany Ultraman Jack at some point... and I hope he does before any other one from "Return of Ultraman"! Maybe Earthtron, but... no, that 'aint happening anyway, unfortunately... :?

Zetton (any form) is not a question of "if", but just of "when". Sooner or later he'll see release, that's like a given due to him being one of THE most memorable and well known ones out of all of the Ultra monsters.

Otherwise... I can imagine that Tyrant may get an ULTRA-ACT figure to go with Taro, that would rock! Tyrant would also go well with other existing UA-figures staring from "Ultraman Taro" (himself) over "Ultra Galaxy NEO" (Gomora & Eleking) to "Ultra Galaxy Legends" (yet another guy of Belial's monster army!). Total win if you ask me ~

If we are VERY lucky there might be a Birdon on the horizon (hence UA Zoffy's ablazed head), which would be very welcome to add some variety to the line and I'd buy him in a heartbeat!

Personally I'd die for a Gomess in this line. He would be an awesome ULTRA-ACT figure!

My absolute dream item would have to be an 8" U-Killersaurus (or alternatively the Zero-Killersaurus variant to go with the "Ultimate Force Zero"-figures). His charater screams "ULTA-ACT" all over and his tentacles and stuff make him somewhat predestinated to form the high-end collector's part of this lineup. Period. Never gonna happen, though... wich is very sad! :(

However, if Tamashii'd come out of their cave and do all of the monsters mentioned above, then the lineup may even retire and I'll still die as a happy collector ~

IIRC, Gomora, Zetton, Baltan, and Red King are the most popular and recognized Ultra Monsters. They've already released Gomora, Red King's on the way, Baltan might be coming (we'll see), and that pretty much leaves Zetton. Hope you're right!
