The "Holy Grails" Of Godzilla toys?

Post by SUPERTOHOREMIX »

As the title suggests, what do you think is the/a Holy Grail of the kaiju collecting world?

For me, this has got to be one of them. The Golden Toho Employee Variant of the Large Scale 91 Godzilla.

Seriously, it would be an honor to own one ( in my dreams XD.)

Legion1979 wrote:For Bandai collectors, holy grails would be items such as the one GIGAN05 mentioned above, or extremely limited magazine prize and lottery items. Of the general release toys, I'd say three that immediately come to mind would be the bronze Great Monsters Series Godzilla, the Godzilla '91/Godzillasaurus blister pack and the 1984 King Ghidorah figure with the "Destroy all Monsters"-style tag.

For vintage collectors, there's a whole bunch of stuff I could mention. Hawaiian-variant Bullmark vinyls, original Plamodel Marusan kits, giant store display Popy Godzilla (if that counts)...
..Really? I could have sworn I saw a set that came with Godzilla and the Godzillasaurus and it was at a pretty cheap price on Ebay. Either it wasnt the one you're talking about or the seller didnt know the true value of what he was selling.

It was damaged (at least the package was). It went for around 50 IIRC.

I would have to say that RC Mechagodzilla that CK nabbed recently. That thing may be the best damned Goji collectible ever.

@Jomei: It's not even the novelty. At least not by itself. It LOOKS perfect, functions almost exactly like in the film (sans the actual energy weapons), is huge, and also rare/expensive. That hits all my criteria for a grail item.

While everyone might have their personal holy grail (mine might be the DX Transforming Moguera), I would imagine that the ultimate "holy grail" would be something that EVERYONE likes. Not many things like that out there. The RC Mechagodzilla is the only thing I could think of that I've never heard a negative comment about. Near perfect figure there.

The MG RC is really cool item, I've worked one its awesome.
The one downfall it has in my opinion is that it is an electonic toy.
Just like anything electronic, they wear out over time.
Other than that, its the coolest toy in a while!

Consensus number one would only come from a poll. Start a poll each company's figures and that should lead us somewhere.

The Holy Grail item for me (since I only collect the HG gashapon line) is the crystal HG 6 set. Only 100 were made and you had to win it through a lotto by sending in the little forms attached to the insert papers.

Godzilla & Gamera High Grade (gashapon) collector.
Looking for: spare High Grade insert papers (various sets)

I would, but I'm not good with all the stylized figures. Marmit, Bullmark. They're all the same to me!

If anyone else does, go right ahead.

Ah, I love that set. Really want one, but due to how rare it is, I'll never end up with one. Still, I could dream. :)

Yes.

Anybody else think the DX Transforming Moguera is a "holy grail", or is it just me? ;)
