No, you’re right. Many Americans pronounce a LOT of Japanese stuff incorrectly (I’m sure I’m no exception).

But it properly is “GEE-do-ra”. There’s technically no way to say “door” in Japanese as (with very few grammatical exceptions) all syllables end in a vowel, not a consonant.

I hear it in the movies as Ghid-or-ah,..but I hear American reviewers say, Gah-Door-uh.

maybe it's my ears, I hear in English often the emphasis is placed on the second syllable, and in Japanese the emphasis is placed on the first syllable. I hear that in a tons of words, too.

Like in a Japan show you'll hear, "ACK-key-ko",..but an American will say, "Ah-KEY-ko".....

...maybe I just watch way too much Japanese stuff the past couple years and English is starting to sound weird to me.

Anyway, decent review. Thanks for posting it. I have the figure and like it a lot.

I think that has to do with how many of us will naturally say it when making out a sentence. Gah-Door-Uh is usually how it sounds when saying it fast......

I had not noticed that, (though I noticed a lot of words ending with an 'O' sound.)

thanks for mentioning it.

I'm not trying to learn Japanese, but I notice a lot of things and seem to have picked up a bunch of words and expressions I guess because it's almost all I've watched for years now.

Well, after about a month of waiting, my MMS Biollante finally arrived. She really is a lot more impressive in hand then what the images will show. She also scales really well with the mini 89 Goji figure from the battle packs that Bandai used to release.
Well, that's certainly a thing.

I received my bandai Kiryu (2016) today. It’s pretty good. The lack of back paint is really noticeable tho. Can’t wait to cut him up and fully articulate it. Image ImageImage

Just thinking about someone cutting up a vinyl sends shivers down my spine. :freak:
Your MechaGodzilla '75 turned out quite well, so I'm looking forward to see how Kiryu goes.

Posting this here because no one ever goes on the Custom Figures thread, so I feel it will get seen by more people here

When do these come out? And where do you get them? Will HLJ carry them?

That’s cool they’re re-releasing the little ‘89 Godzilla. Too bad they’re not also rereleasing the rose biollante that originally came with it. Pairing those two with the new MMS biollante would make a nice little display.

You know, I just noticed something, the new MMS adult Mothra has even less paint on the bottom of the wings then the original release!

Granted, the original didn't exactly have that much more paint on the bottom of the wings, but for the love of Godzilla Bandai! WHY?!?!

...It's little things like that that really bother me, but I digress.

Anyone seen newer photos of the upcoming Radon & Gigan vinyls? The first ones we saw were kinda small and lacked detail... :eh:
