I just feel like people have turned a blind eye to 40 years of toy history simply based on the almost perverse way people praise the MonsterArts.
I honestly don't see why people go on about the 'amost perverse' way people praise the Monsterarts. I'm not sure about ClubTokyo due to its closed doors policy, but folks in sites like Skullbrain or even here you see equal praise for figures of other lines, especially Marmit and X-plus. You can't tell me the praise for, say, MA Spacegodzilla, hasn;t been as extreme as the Gigabrain Ghidorah, or most of the more popular marmits like the Gigan back when they were new. In addition, most of the Monsterarts collectors here do appreciete the other lines, and those that don't are traditionally collectors of SA lines in general like Figma, Revoltech and Figurarts only (like those in TFW2005).

There's also the bit where Marmit and M1 are stylized, who that automatically turns a fair number of people off. Bandai is also generalised as 'kid's toy', so some colelctors who only collect adult collectibles ignore it. Of course, in the long run, Bandais will outlast and be more popular than MAs, but then I don't see your point. Are MAs too popular or not popular enough?
It is a simple story. There is nothing that brings me happiness. Be it believing in others or them believe in me, it did not matter.
What others called happiness simply did not bring me joy.

Oh, my praise for SHMAs is very perverse, hee hee...

...Anyway, as cool as the SHMAs are, it would indeed be foolish to ignore the myriad of other Godzilla figure lines out there, especially since it is unlikely that the SHMA line will ever be large enough to encompass all the characters in the Toho universe. The SHMA line does include some figures that haven't been made in the standard Bandai line yet (such as Flying Destroyah), so if one is trying to collect a figure of every kaiju incarnation, it is worth watching both lines (and other lines too.)

Mind you, SHMA isn't even my favorite toy line. I prefer CCP, Marmit and M1.

To change the subject back on topic, I would really like to pick up Bandai's excellent Titanosaurus figure, which is definitely the best figure in its scale that I've seen. I missed out on it when it was first released, however, and I can't find one for sale anywhere now for under $100.

Stop me if you've heard that one before. :g2k:

I think people are missing something here-

Bandai covers a whole SH!TLOAD of stuff not just vinyl figures. Bandai's Godzilla line includes all the Gashapons, Die Cast, DX Electronic etc etc.

And yes this DOES include SH MonsterArts

Its ALL Bandai.

Yeah, high on my list of Bandai's best, and I have all five of them!
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

This next year (2013) will be Bandai 30th anniversary for Godzilla toys!
I wish they make something cool for this event. My wish would a new 8" scale Godzilla monster!
It would be a total dream if they made a Destroy All Monsters boxset! Maybe even a Monster Island boxset!
Now that would be awesome! :huge:

Yeah, hopefully we see some more Godzilla vinyls soon(ish).

Last thing Bandai did Godzilla-related was those DVD exclusive figures, correct? That was '08. Been to long, I wanna see some new Goji vinyls!

@BandaiBandit: a set of new figures to commemorate BANDAIs first set of Godzilla figures could be them releasing an hommage-set of new 6" figures of the original 5 characters they did with "The Godzilla Collection"-tags back the day:

- Godzilla '62 (reissue from the 50th Memorialbox)
- Godzilla '64 (reissue from the 50th Memorialbox)
- Mechagodzilla '74 (new mold)
- King Ghidorah '64 (new mold)
- Godzilla '84 (reissue from the 50th Memorialbox)

How awesome would that be?
Unfortunately it's highly doubtful that anybody at BANDAI develops an idea as cool as this...

@Mr. X: yes, the four DVD exclusive figures was the last thing BANDAI put out in the Godzilla-related vinyl figure department.

True. Too true, sadly. I don't understand to this very day, why BANDAI didn't release a 6" Megalon alongside JJ. It'd have pushed sales big time. I feel like JJ was a bad seller (he's still around plenty for ~MRSP) and thus helped ending the line. When they released Godzilla '68(-'71) they at least put Hedorah with him... There's still three question marks over my head about JJ and no Megalon back the day...

I still wish that Bandai would make a Gabara.
My other wish would be that Bandai make a Johnny Sokko Giant Robot line, with all the monsters!
That would be bad ass! :P
