That Mothra looks really nice.
It is a simple story. There is nothing that brings me happiness. Be it believing in others or them believe in me, it did not matter.
What others called happiness simply did not bring me joy.

Thanks for this post and your photos... When I saw up close just how good this Varan looks, I decided to put him on my safari list, and I just got a great deal on one.Jomei wrote:So, I revealed it in the toy you just bought thread, but let's give the Marusan thread some love. My first figure by this company is my black, unpainted Varan. Here are some pics I just took and some thoughts.
I'm not sure how I feel about it being unpainted--I thought it was going to have some highlights, which is how I usually prefer vinyls. However, the sculpt really does look fantastic. It's simple yet highly-detailed and seems pretty accurate. The face captures the look of the kaiju just right, and there's tons of sculptural detail in the skin texture and the back spines and plate.
I don't mind the solid colors: I like colorful paints on vinyls, but I also like the way an unpainted figure can highlight the sculpt itself.
All the more reason to get one of each!

I don't remember where I posted, but I remember stating that a figure custom-painted with the "Marusan USA style" would be awesome. Somebody should do it! It would be awesome to see more characters painted in that wicked cool style: http://toyboxdx.com/brog/wp-content/upl ... 4-256w.jpg

Re: Marusan Vinyl Appreciation Thread
Where (other than ebay) do most of you go for Marusan figures?
I used to collect Bandai's in the late '90s/early 2000's... then I started in on the Marusan guys that caught my eye. But ebay seems to've dried up and there are still a handful I'd like to get ahold of.
Thanks for any advice you can give!

I'm on a road trip right now and the local comic store has a Marusan Godzilla 1955 in bag for $60. Plan to pick it up in the morning! Will be my first stylized purchase, pretty excited for it.

We need to bring this thread back to life! I've been using Marusan figures for my fan film and forgot how much I loved them. Anyone know anything about those M-Pop figures of different colors? I have the Godzilla in dark blue from that set but was wondering if anybody had those figures too?

Wow! That's a fantastic Megalon! I like it's color.
As for M-Pop, it's some new line Marusan has been doing; I don't really know much about it but I think the point of it is to basically give collectors colorful options for their shelves or particularly to customize.
Here's the Godzilla set:
I have the dark blue version.
They've done a couple others too, including;
Mechagodzilla:
That thing I forget how to spell:
Varan:

Yeah, I love the Marusan line; all of their stuff is great. The quality is also really nice.
The prices for Marusan figures really vary; you can find them for pretty fair prices online and on eBay sometimes, usually in the $20-$50 range (which is the main reason I only own a few; I can only buy one at a time usually). But hey, quality over quantity any day.

I'm doing a YouTube series called "Vinyl Showcase" in which each video highlights one Godzilla toy brand. Marusan was first!

Yeah, I loved that video! It inspired me to make my own fan film (Gojira vs. Daimajin, I got a page for on the fan art section). I really enjoyed it.

Nice!! I have both of those and Godzilla 54. That Anguirus is really a fantastic figure; it's definitely one of my favorites (plus it's Anguirus 55)!
