Goji wrote:^ Wow, that's a lot work man! I'll give you props for taking on something like that.

A Godzilla is a given, but other (Toho) monsters that have to be in this game are:

-A Showa-era Godzilla. Whether if be '54, '74/'75, or the infamous King-Goji or Mosu-Goji, there needs to be some Showa rep.
-Godzilla 90's
-Rodan (Any really)
-Mothra (Tokyo S.O.S. would be the best version to model her off of, IMO)
-King Ghidorah (Preferably not a lame hybrid, this time)
-MechaGodzilla (I suppose the Heisei one would make the most sense..)
-Anguirus
-Gigan
-Megalon
-Hedorah
-Destoroyah
-SpaceGodzilla
-Biollante

Personal "must haves" list (no order). These are monsters I personally feel need to be in the game, if not at launch, then eventually.

-Battra
-Jet Jaguar
-Kiryu
-Baragon
-GINO/Zilla
-Mecha-King Ghidorah
-Megaguirus
-Orga
-MOGUERA
-Titanosaurus
-Gorosaurus
-Monster X(I)
-Ebirah
-Kumonga
-Kamacuras
-Varan
-Manda

"Wish" list (no order). These guys are probably less likely to see many votes, but I'd love to see them.
-Gabara
-Gaira
-Sanda
-Gezora
-(Showa) Mechagodzilla
-Zone Fighter
-Dogora (as an unplayable boss)
-Giant Condor (an air strike, intended as a joke)
-Super X's (Super X would have the cadmium missiles, which could briefly "knock out" monsters, but would be the weakest of the three, X-II could have the Fire Mirror, and be able to reflect monster beams, while the X-III could freeze opponents like it did in G:STE)

Kong's not ever going to happen, so I didn't even bother including him on any of these.

Oh i'm not doing the other versions of characters like godzilla 74 with the exception of gigan showa and moguera showa, someone else is doing that, I'm just doing the monsters in general.

I'm wondering if an achievements system would be an ideal way to do something like this.

I didn't really see a reason for you to quote me, considering nobody posted after me..but whatever.

And that's fine, but frankly, people need to mention which versions of the monsters they want to see. Otherwise, all of you will be moaning and groaning when we get another hybrid Ghidorah.

If Mr. Strange and his team don't know which version(s) the fans will prefer, we're likely to get more "generic" interpretations or hybrids. As far as I'm concerned, being more specific about which version you want to see should be part of everyone's list making process.

Well ya, I thought about the different versions of characters and asked grayshot954 if he could help me by taking note of all the different versions of characters while I take note of the characters in general since I knew I probably wouldn't be able to do this on my own.

It would take a lot of extra time. You're doing a good enough job here. I'd say maybe just try to keep note of the designs that people want, while also taking in the "general" votes, or for those people that don't specify.

For instance, tallying up the votes for the various Showa Godzilla's would be a good start. Most people seem to want either King-Goji ('62), Mosu-Goji ('64), or Meka-Goji ('74/'75), though I'd say 70's G is probably the most wanted. I think I've seen a few for the Shoshinkgeki-Goji ('68) as well.

That's an awesome idea for a level! Again, I'm not so sure about the criteria for making the baby Rodan appear, but I love the concept of brawling inside the Rodan lair, and having a baby Rodan hatch in the background. Meganulons squirming around is pure awesomeness too.

I always thought that lair would make a great fighting stage. And the criteria is based on the year the original Rodan movie came out, which was in 1956. Hence why 56 is the amount to trigger the cameo. You get the idea ^^.

A system that like would be a logical way to make easter eggs/cameos appear.

I'm guessing this is more like online bill-paying (as a comparison).

When you make a pledge through kickstarter, you pay your pledge amount through Amazon checkout. The charge does not actually happen until the project is all funded, but at that time all amazon accounts are charged their pledge amount, and the funding is deposited into the Sunstone Games bank account. Part of setting up the kickstarter pledge is setting up an associated bank account. This is important not only for getting the money, but also for tax accountability.

This means that in order to pledge, you need to have a valid credit card or paypal account - or some more exotic funding solution supported by Amazon.

The Kickstarter idea helps with word of mouth. If its up for a long enough amount of time word will spread. The only real hoop we have to jump through is getting the copyright from Toho.

We have a small fanbase.

Maybe in the US, but from what I've seen that Godzilla does have a strong fanbase outside the US.

Small in comparison to alot of things, but you'd be surprised how many Godzilla fans you actually encounter. I've met dozens in the past year, and not even on hubs like TK.

I just want to express how genuinely excited I am that something like this can/is happening (although it looks like I might have to buy a new computer to enjoy it).

We are truly lucky to have people as passionate about the source material as Matt and Chris involved, and also Simon who has worked so hard on the past three games (Thanks).

I am behind this project full steam! I cannot wait to see this thing materialize. Hopefully we raise enough to get this onto consoles so it can be enjoyed by a wider audience!

I did have kind of a neat design idea

For a lobby instead of waiting and looking at a screen before someone joins your fight you could be controlling/watching your monster approaching the battlefield like you would see in the movies either Godzilla swimming towards land, walking through the countryside, or maybe you would be fighting a few jets/battleships as a minigame (ie dragon ball z capsule collecting). Just a thought as I know there is a disconnect between fan desires and development reality!

ARGHH I AM EXCITE!

LOVE this idea. Reminds me of Smash Bros. Brawl, where you get to beat up on the sandbag while waiting for an online match to start. Both ideas you pitched (moving towards the battle or fighting jets and ships) sound awesome to me. Wailing on a skyscraper or playing a little boulder volleyball would be fun little time-killers too.

Wanted - web-page designer to help with game promotion.

Postby Mr. Strange » Mon Apr 09, 2012 10:35 pm

I'm putting together the kickstarter campaign page now (it won't launch for a month yet - be patient!) and I'm once again aware that my video / web design skills are pretty mediocre.

Is there anyone here who would like to contribute to the game by masterminding a few snazzy-looking pages? Matt will probably provide art support, but it would be great to have someone figuring out what size pieces, etc.

I hope it is like Godzilla Unleashed, but good. The concept behind the Pipeworks games is just fine...however, you need to:

- Fix the *HORRIBLE* control from GU
- improve the graphics
- improve the buidling destruction system (Look at the destruction system from the Sega Dreamcast Godzilla Generations for reference)
- more monsters (removed Krystass and Obsidiot for new kaiju, such as Hedorah, Gorosaurus, Ebirah, Battra, Monster X, Keizer Ghidorah, Manda, Gabara, etc.)
- add some TOHO kaiju that weren't in a G film (i.e. Gaira, Sanda, Gezora, Kameba, Ganimes, Dogora, Magma, etc.)
- give each kaiju their own unique ending, not just the same general ending.
- Release it for the PS3 and Xbox 360, *NOT* just the Wii or Wii 2.
- For God sakes, drop Fire Rodan for the classic Showa Rodan.
- Once again, please use showa or Heisei incarnations for King Ghidorah, *NOT* the pathetic GMK KG (which is *not* popular among fans).

Just my two cents...
