If you can advertise it in a way that it will be a competitive online tournament fighter with giant monsters, you will have a unique brand. This may attract people that aren't that interested in Godzilla. I think even though a lot of people love Godzilla, a lot of people also view him as a joke. I don't think you will lose that many Godzilla fans as long as it is possible to have him (and friends) added eventually.

^ Reads compliment and jumps in the air a few feet.

Great to hear and I will continue to do my best.

Hey guys I know the game is still on hollow ground but to spread the news about it, I announced it on my Youtube channel "The Monitor's Archive". Its just to let my friends know since they asked me about it and I kinda got tired of explaining everything so here is the link:

Anyway, nothing fancy but just a brief overview of everything announced so far...

I say scrap these "expansion pack" ideas... and forget about copyrighted characters and make a fighting game with a "Create-a-Monster" mode.

Have body type (moveset binding):
Quadraped
Biped
Flying
Snake/worm

Skin:
Reptile
Insect
Mech
Alien

Then a large selection of plain heads, necks, bodies, arms, legs, wings, tails, spines then add some color and movesets.

If we had to go this route, it would be the most fun than playing some other random premade unknown monsters.

I wouldn't be suprised at all if this is something Toho doesn't want announced publically, but is there a specific dollar amount Toho wants to see up front? It'd just be cool to have an exact number to shoot for to get Godzilla and friends on board.

That said, if Toho fell through, I'd still be very interested in Gamera creatures or original monsters. I wouldn't downsize my donation, and my personal interest/the novelty value wouldn't be diminished at all. Giant monster games aren't exactly oversaturating the market (I'm looking at you, brown FPSes). And I agree, if we go original monsters, I'd love to finally see create-a-monster mode.

I'm a pretty positive fellow - but I'd like to nip discussion of "create a monster" mode in the bud. What you are describing is dramatically outside the scope of this project. The technology alone is probably 10x the budget I'm trying for. I hate being a person who comes in to squash discussion, but create a monster is so wildly outside the realm of possibility that I really don't want anyone getting their hopes up in the slightest for it.

How is it out of possibility? There are plenty of games with create a character mode. And there isn't even a budget yet...

"EAT THEM!" Is a kaiju game that is downloadable on the PS3 that has a decent creator. You choose a head, torso, left arm, right arm, left leg, right leg, and back accessory, then you can color them.

The game even plays similar to the pipeworks atari games.

The core of this idea is that I can make a top-quality game for much less than the normal price, by leveraging existing technology and an experienced team. Creating monsters piecemeal requires a totally different set of skills & technology.

It's funny how some people don't realize how much work actually goes into making a "create a character" mode. If anything, it requires a lot more work than creating characters that have set boundaries/move sets, because I figure you have more control over how it all works in conjunction with one another when you do it that way.

Such a mode is kind of bound to be horrible anyhow.

Oasis, that's how I'm looking at that as well.

Although I do know that it will be difficult, Godzilla's name has pull, and most fans(And non-fans) would most likely be more interested in a Godzilla game than a original monster game. Then again...There's War of the Monsters, and for a game that was filled with original and inspired monsters, it was pulled off well and there are still fans of it that greatly hope for a sequel some day. If an original monster game were to be attempted, then it'll need a good or great pitch to gather interest. Names attached to it can also draw interest, and of course, visual examples as to how the game will turn out will bare the same effect.

This, play Soul Calibur 5 and you realize all that time they spent putting in crate a fighter mode they could have spent making a mediocre game into a good game. SC 5 is behind the other SC games because of how much time was wasted on the make a fighter mode and it shows.

Mr. Strange, when you guys start making the game, could you reveal characters like they did for G:U were they showed confirmed and uncomfirmed characters, and after a while show the confirmed characters game render? or even better, reveal each character by giving/showing us clues and we have to guess correctly for the monster to be revealed?

Considering this is going to be a contributor-driven project, I'm not sure that will even be possible.

The contributors will likely determine the roster, and thus the characters will be known by a large group of people. Also, Mr. Strange has already said he wants to be as transparent as possible during the development of the game, so I wouldn't count on a slow, secret monster reveal marketing style like G:U had.

As Lenbo said, this isn't a "day and date" style release, so there won't be any marketing efforts like Atari poured millions of dollars into for G:U. That said, we'll be posting most of the design decisions publicly, and every contributor will have access to the design forum where we discuss all the nitty-gritty.

It would be if it had no limitations. If you made it simply cosmetic changes but kept all the dimensions very similar it can be done. I think others are taking it waaaay to in depth. Of course making set monsters with set moves would be simpler that is too obvious.

Build moves per body type, so you can have a huge selection for mixing moves with bi-peds. Almost all monsters had drop kick, upper cut in DAMM/StE so moves were interchanged. This would be "simply" like taking Godzilla, popping his head off and putting Gigan on, changing the tail to Ghidorah's and adding Destroyah wings, etc. I never said it wouldn't be easier, whoever got that idea is rather silly.

Yes, it would be more challenging to make moves land. Heck, in DAMM/StE you had grabs that miss and it would "suck" the other right into them, and other moves would totally go through the enemy without any collision. Sucks we won't have this mode, guess I will just have to get on creating a monster and submitting it, if we don't get TOHO rights. ;)

First off I think we can pull this off to raise the money. Infact, giving people the ability to mold their own creatures would probably attract more people and then when enough money is made and Toho decides.... It could hold better results then what happened with Obsidius & Krystalak. No offense.

Also, just announced the game on my channel. Nothing fancy but I thought I would let you know. My friends kept asking so I put together a brief video.
