I'd dig a Gamera or new Godzilla game. However Im leaning more towards an original monster based game for all platforms.

I've always wanted to see a game where you can actually create your own monster by mixing and matching body parts much like the customization in the upcoming Transformers: Fall of Cybertron, Warhammer 40k: Space Marine, Halo: Reach, and Spore. Infact I'd very much like to see a Kaiju RPG game. You can either create your own Kaiju or use a preset one and attack cities, fight bosses such as the military, other monsters or mechs. The online mode would be cool too, like if your monster is attacking a city, another player can join your "world" and challenge you to a fight, this is where the Fighting part of the game takes place. Alternativly, you and the player can team up to cause havok in the city.

A kaiju RPG/MMO is something new as far as im concerned, and I dont think it's ever been attempted before aside from fan-made projects. The game would appeal to both RPG fans and Fighting game fans since it combines aspects of both.

Like the OP stated, original kaiju would most certainly save them the trouble of having to aquire the rights to say, Godzilla and Gamera. I invisioned a War of the Monsters style game for the fighting aspect and character customization similar to the Transformers games and Fallout/Elder Scrolls series.


Though the most likely scenario is a fighting game which is god too. I'd still want original kaiju, but make it like War of the Monsters which to me is the quintissencial kaiju fighting game aside from DAMM.

Eat Them! has the create your own monster thing but I don't about the other stuff you mentioned.

While original monsters would be cool, I don't think you guys understand that this could be our only chance ever to get a perfect Godzilla game.

Have to disagree. There will always be a chance especially if the LPG film makes the general public interested in the series again. Interested general public means it'd be easy to cash in with a new game.

But it would be a cheap cash-in, movie tie-in, game. Not a Godzilla game made for fans. Just throwaway crap with no effort put into it, based off a movie which is unproven, and not even out of development hell. This could be our last chance to get a real Godzilla game, and mend the damage wrought by G:U.

You don;t feel a little bit bad saying that? Not only are you being quick to shrug off new Godzilla content to spur fun and discussion in the fandom for the next few years, but you also neglect that a great Godzilla game could lasso in new fans to a shrinking fandom. Incomprehensible. I would think for any major Godzilla fan, the idea of a new Godzilla video game that would rely on fan input possibly much more than Unleashed, would be a friggin' GODSEND.

I would love to see something similar to War of the Monsters for PS2, but with licensed monsters. Maybe have better control and camera movement. But that game is close to being the perfect kaiju game in my opinion. I love how fast paced it is. I love how complex and interactive EVERYTHING is. If there is another Godzilla game coming out, I would want it to stray away from the style it's been doing and go with more of a War of the Monsters style. I don't find the old games very fun. They're ungodly slow and hardly interactive. The only good thing I find about them is that I can play as recognizable characters. But with that said, here's my answers to the questions:

Option 1, especially because for the reasons that Svitska Donkun stated. A new Godzilla game, especially one made for the fans, would be absolutely awesome in my opinion. Although I wouldn't mind if a Gamera game was created instead.

And may I make a suggestion that if this is to be a Godzilla or Gamera game, please do not make any unplayable monsters! That was one of the things I liked about GU, I could play as any monster in the game.

My issue with this is that some monsters, like Biollante, Desighidorah or Legion, are not fit for a balanced fighting experience. Playing as Biollante in G:U was horrible, and glitchy, most likely due to her size and immobility. I think they'd be best suited for a boss encounter, ala Galactus in Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3. Then, if you need to play them still, add a Survival Mode-esque mode where you play as one and have to defeat as many monsters as you can in succession.

I never had problems with Biollante, I had a blast ending fights quickly with her bite.

Alright then, let's see here.

Question 1: Which set of monsters?

Option #1 - A full-scale licensed Godzilla game.
Option #2 - Just like #1, but with Gamera, instead of Godzilla.
Option #3 - Just like #1, but with All-original Kaiju. (No licensing of monsters = $ saved!)


Question 2: What technology?

Option #1 - Online fighting with fully 3D monsters.
Option #2 - Asynchronous fighting (we each take turns, but not necessarily in real-time unless we're both online) with 3D monsters.
Option #3 - Just like #2, but with sweet 2D art.
Option #4 - 2D card-based brawler.


Question 3: What platform?

Option #1 - Consoles.
Option #2 - PC / Mac / Linux.
Option #3 - Something browser-based.
Option #4 - Mobile phones (iOS and Android)


Question 1: Option 1# (But if not possible then Option 3!)
Question 2: Option 1# (A real time fighter would be best)
Question 3: Option 1# (Consoles! PS3 and 360!)

A new Godzilla fighter with input from fans would be amazing, even more so, we could look at the previous games and see their mistakes so that we could better improve said game. I'm willing to do whatever I can if it means our community obtaining another kaiju fighting game.

Also! May I kindly suggest that if a Godzilla Game were to be made, let's not have the story of the game to revolve around an Alien Invasion again. Instead, let the Red Bamboo (Or an inspired organization similar to them) be the cause/villains of the story.

Use the roster from G:U (minus Krystalak and Obsidius) and bring in

Hedorah
Monster X
Gorosaurus
Manda(if a dog in MVC3 and a Polar bear in the Mortal Kombat MUGEN have their own Move-sets,i'm sure a Dragon one can be done.)
Battra(with his own moves)
Gabara(i see him working in a fighting game)
Kamacuras and Kumonga(not many insect kaiju in the games.also see Manda's reason above)
and call me crazy,but I wouldn't mind playing as Zilla

Question 2:option 1

-The assist power-ups like SD mentioned,just different(Super X,Meganula swarm,Garuda,Aggregate Destoroyahs)
-A good story with great cut-scenes
-Costumes for monsters with different versions

I don't think we need anther developer. Pipeworks had the engine perfect in STE. Just bring that back, but with more. Like battle replays, more assist monsters, more fighters, and more online modes that can be customized.

I'm not arguing her strength, she was very strong. She just was poorly optimized, clunky to use, and glitchy. Biollante is not a brawler.

Oh, and btw, BRING BACK BEAM WARS! Such a fun, and unexpected aspect to combat.

Ha! Gojira you skreeonking mad-man your a genius! I'd say let Banpretso develop it! But with Simon and Matt on the team as well.

But at the topic at hand:

Question 1: Option 1# (But Option 3 is also good! Just make sure that you have an inspired Godzilla character playable lol)
Question 2: Option 1# (A real time 3D fighter, with some cinematic finishers)
Question 3: Option 1# (Consoles, PS3 and 360, more sales for ya.)

I find that a new Godzilla would be great, keep the combat freedom of DAMM/STE/GU, but make the fighting more deep like Ultraman FE3/Rebirth. I too am willing to do whatever it takes to make a new Godzilla fighter, or a original kaiju fighter into reality.

Hopefully the presentation of the game (If it were given a green-light) will be better.
