Toho's Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (NES)

Post by Showa Gyaos »

Look in the left-hand corner of the image. It clearly has "Toho Company, Ltd." on the game cover. Any reason why they were involved with such a random title, when they didn't even have a movie based on Robert Louis Stevenson's book? :eh:

Kong is Ness and Skull Island is apart of Undertale.

Well for sure there is no other company with the name Toho.I can't be sure about why Toho Ltd. is on the cartridge.Possibly just for marquee (spelled corrctly?) value but I also sort of doubt that.
It's a signature with words. What more can you want?

still, I don't exactly picture Toho making this. then again, they did use Frankenstein before. there might be a chance this was in the making but it never got the day of spotlight.

Nothing says involvement in a random game means it was part of a bigger project. Toho might just have though the game'd be a big moneymaker.
I used to be a lot more optimistic and outgoing, believe it or not. I used to actually be passionate about this stuff.

I'm necroing topics left and right in this forum today... anyway, Toho was heavily involved in video games back in the NES and SNES era.

This is what lead to this game and other "gems" like Circus Caper:

(hint: Toho was pretty bad at making video games through their affiliates)

Angry Video Game Nerd reviewed it, and in his opinion, it sucked! I decided to play it on nintendo8.com after watching the video to see how bad it really was. Sure enough, it was the worst game I have ever played hands down!

After playing this game, I believe it.

I remember seeing a few copies at ConBravo last summer (which the Nerd happened to be at) and all could say to the vendor was "I feel sorry for the poor bastard who buys these!"
