Ok, as many of you already know, Legendary Pictures did the new Godzilla film reveal today. Awesome.

But even better (for us) - this is generating a ton of hype and discussion around kaiju projects.

So get out onto the boards / twitter feeds / wherever people are discussing the new Godzilla film - and post links back to Kaiju Combat! Go!

Not to mention Pacific Rim! Which actually uses the word "kaiju" for the monsters! This is great as it will spread knowledge of the word, and hopefully will become more recognizable outside of the kaiju fandom.

Strange, have you ever heard of something called "Roosterteeth"? It's a gigantic Youtube community with over 1.8 million subscribers. If we could get them to do a video, like a promotion or an interview, the Kickstarter page could easily get tens of thousands more views.

They do a lot of videogame videos, but I don't think they've ever done anything about a game that still wasn't developed yet, since they tend to center around actually playing the games.

Still, a general video about kickstarter with several game projects mentioned seems like something they might do. After all, Cracked.com did an article about kickstarter games.

Just threw in my $75! My first ever Kickstarter donation! Time to Tweet/Facebook/etc. I'd really REALLY love to see this come together, but it seems daunting.

EDIT: Tweeted, Facebooked and hit some message boards. I got a new computer (old one died, big part of why I've been gone for a while) but it's a Mac... will I be able to play this?

i09 just posted an article about the new Godzilla movie. I would try sending tips to i09 in hopes that they will give us a shoutout.

Hello all:

Here is a lovely list of sites you can write to, asking for more Kaiju Combat coverage! Please pick a few that you know something about. Then, take a moment and write something earnest about why you think they should cover Kaiju Combat. Please try to sound like a sensible adult - a minimum of exclamation points, talk about yourself some, and why you are backing the project. Give them a few "hooks" that will make them think there is an interesting article to be written, not just "please because we need money and I want it!"

Anyway, here's their first week of coverage: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/07 ... july-2012/

Hopefully the coverage doesn't stop here. It's too bad every comment is about the Ouya.

I will send emails to all of them.

I am waiting for the huge rush of backers/news. I want this to succeed something fierce. Too bad we don't know any billionaire G-Fans. I will continue to do my part!

Well, crazy as this sounds, I believe it is common knowledge around the fandom that Brad Pitt was inspired into acting by War of the Gargantuas.

That's honestly what I heard.

"Billionairs?" Heck, we just need one bank loan officer who likes Kaiju.

Nice interview.

Sadly, I'm probably not going to be able to donate, which is absolutely horrendous. My dad thinks its a scam and won't let me donate as a result, so I'm just going to have to sit back and watch. I was really hoping to be a part of this thing, too. :sigh:

I wonder - does your father think that Kickstarter itself is a scam? Or that this particular project is a scam? If the latter, I'd like to know what could have been done differently to help reassure him? This is an honesty question - I'm a game designer not a marketing / video editing / PR person, so I'm sure I could improve with some constructive feedback.

No, its more general than either Kickstarter or Kaiju Combat. To put it lightly, if you aren't the church, good luck getting donations from him.

You are most definitely not at fault, Simon. My dad's just a hard-head. Don't worry about one measly fan like me.

Awesome interview at shogun gamer. I would like to see more of this, even if it is just linking to the interview.

EDIT: I tipped the link to Kotaku and i09 in hopes that they will just post the link.

After reading that long (but informing) interview, I think I would like to make a topic related to a question that might inevitably come up if things don't do well.
