Overall, pretty solid!

I would hint more at the possibility of A-list monsters. I understand there's reasons you can't say "If we raise enough money, we can buy Godzilla." and why you have to say it so softly, but I think something just a little stronger could do wonders. But I understand, there could be potential legal trouble if you say something too much, but just something a tad less vague, along the lines of something like adding "all-stars" or "big names" or just something a little stronger than "other franchises"

We shot this part already, and we have a little Godzilla doll floating through the bottom of the screen as I say it...

Mr Strange, I don't know if this was addressed before or not but I was wondering how much gore and violence would be in this game?

Would there be blood coming out from Gigan's sawblades slicing enemies? Chemical burns from Hedorah's muck?

Maybe even an oxygen destoroyer effect from either Destoroyah or the military?

Toho specifically does not allow visible damage to their monsters. So, no.

That's unfortunate. Someday I'd love to see their entire list of rules....but I have a feeling its huuuuuuuuuuge.

Count me in on being curious about Toho's rule list.

The "no visible damage" rule is a little strange, since many monsters show damage through the course of the movies. Of course Toho doesn't want images of their monsters covered in blood and looking like gruesome psychos or murder victims... but at the same time, we've seen heads blown off, blood-spurting wounds, and more in the movies themselves.

I know right. Would it really be so bad to just have a cut once in a while? Anguirus and Godzilla and even King Ghidorah had gotten a few in the Showa films. :?

Godzilla even lost a hand in Godzilla vs Hedorah.

The main rules for licensees (Toho doesn't need to follow their own rules, obviously) are:

1 - No monster can be visibly damaged.
2 - No monster can be seriously threatened / defeated by anything other than another monster.
3 - Monsters may not be given any new abilities or powers.

I believe this rule was broken in all 3 of the Pipeworks games.

I guess rule 2 would rule out any chance of the G-force superweapons from the various eras to have any greater role in the games besides being there to attack as unplayable enemies.

I was really hoping they would allow a few of these such as SY3, the Gotengo or the Kilaaks Fire Dragon Ship to be playable, seeing as how they where in some of the Older Godzilla games (Trading battle, NES MOM 2 and SNES KDK.)

Rule 1 is hypocritical of Toho, in almost all their movies, the monsters had been damaged, maybe a bigger budget could change their minds, at least so we can see bruises (blood is not really required)

Rule 2 does not make sense; Jet Jaguar, Mechagodzilla, and Moguera, are not Monsters, they are machines

Rule 3 was broken in every atari game ;) (In DAM Orga got that Plasma, in STE Mecha-King Ghidorah got the invincibility Rage, in Unleashed Titanosaurus got some beam he never had, oh in all 3 Anguirus' Sonic Roar was used even though it was never in a Movie), so I assume Toho will make exceptions if they get more cash I assume?

Thanks for sharing!

I am curious how Pipeworks/Atari got away with Gigan's teleport, Titano and Varan's beams, Godzilla's fireball, Anguirus' sonic roar, etc. Any stories to share there?

I've written about this a few times:

http://strangedesign.typepad.com/strang ... rball.html

In short, if I'm able to convince Toho that something was implied - I've been able to get it approved. Titanosaurus's beam, for example, was implied. Gigan's teleport was implied. Megalon's burrowing was implied. And Anguirus roared plenty in the movies. Godzilla even shot short exploding things from his mouth which we didn't exactly see - I made the case that they were fireballs.

Mr. Strange, if/when the game gets made, would you consider contacting Sony/Midway for the use of the War of the Monsters/Rampage series monsters?

What would be the point of having rip offs of the monsters in the same game as the originals? Seems like a big waste of money IMO.

Plus Midway doesn't exist anymore. WB bought them after they went bankrupt and turned them into NetherRealm Studios.
