If you like, I'll comment on the things you said, to verify how accurate you were.

Also, the working name is "Kaiju Combat" - the second word isn't spelled with a "K". Using "Kombat" in the title would be a violation of Mortal Kombat's copyright. It looks like you've been using that name for other videos - just a coincidence?

Also, Matt Frank didn't work on any Atari Godzilla games. He has done work for IDW's Godzilla comics since last year though. He worked on covers for Godzilla: Kingdom of Monsters, Godzilla: Gangsters & Goliaths, and co-wrote and drew issue 1 of Godzilla: Legends. He's now doing covers for their latest ongoing - Godzilla.

Zentenk, friend, when the ACTUAL GAME DESIGNER in this thread says it is far harder than is feasible, you should probably believe him. Those with experience in the industry really have more of an idea of what they're talking about. I'm not trying to be mean, I know it's an idea you really want to see, but no amount of rationalization will make such a mode any easier to create.

In theory, character creator modes are a great idea. The problem is that they require so much time and effort that in order to do it even halfway right you have to base the entire game around them. So, in execution, they are extremely difficult.

Also, it may sound easy when you say it... but in practice, it's a nightmare to work with in terms of programming, animation, and balance. I saw an entire indy project go down the drain over the central character creator mode not working well.

Okay to clarifty everything:

1) Yeah the Kombat thing was from a friend of mine playing Mortal Kombat. I was talking to him the entire time when I made the video.

2) I forgot about Chris because I did a switch a ru in my head with what he and Matt did.

3) Mr. Strange don't worry about the video, I am changing it to be 100% correct and I can't say this enough but sorry Chris.

I think Zentenk has been pretty reasonable with his response. Which isn't to say that I think create-a-monster is any more feasible - but there's no reason we can't all remain friends.

Interesting development, good to hear that Toho is finally atleast within discussion plans for this project.

As for the game, does this still mean there will be a presence at certain conventions this year in order to generate interest?

I apologize if I come off as aggressive, I really don't mean to be. I'm just saying that you can't try to rationalize with experience.

Although, admittedly, this is a subject I'm a touch salty about. It's one of the most commonly asked for features in licensed games (as far as I can tell), but nobody seems to really understand what that means for the developers.

But I truly mean no disrespect. I just wish to see this avenue of conversation nipped in the bud, since the feature is out of the question.

I actually designed a pitch for a game, using this same engine, which I called "Patchwork Centurion" - it was a game in which every animal in the world was a cyborg - and you could harvest their parts to replace your own. Your own parts were constantly being damaged, so nothing about you was static.

The technology for that game was very similar to create-a-monster, since each component needed to have unique animation data associated with it, such that any collection of parts would create a playable character. That was a fun idea.

Anybody think Destoroyah should have his chest beam?

I think Gabara needs to have an electric grapple similar to what Kiryu had in STE where it did small amounts of damage the longer he was holding them. I've felt Gabara should've been able to manipulate electricity into beams similar to the way it's done in StarWars so I like the idea of him having that ability for sure.
He musta thought it was a gun!
I liked Giant Condor and Gabara before it was cool to just sayin.

I say that the "create-a-monster" feature shouldn't be implemented, as Mr. Strange has stated. Besides, if you want to create your own monster, you can always donate $500 to make your wish come true. (Assuming you can afford it. God knows I can't.)

Grayshot, did you mention that it would cost $1,000,000 to get King Kong alone? If we get him it would rise interest for the project big time.

I said if Simon and his company assertain enough capital it is somewhat possible certain companies may allow them to use certain monsters. So if some billionaire donates or something then were gold on Kong. 8-) Otherwise it was just an example of an American Monster. It was either him or Clover and though I think the latter is better, most would probably disagree or lack the knowledge of such a beast.

What's your source on that figure? That sounds pretty outlandish to me. I think $100,000 would be closer to the truth.

However, I personally would tend to prefer just making an original giant ape, and putting that money towards other things instead.

You could use the extra money to make a giant condor and giant octopus while you're at it.

I mean, isn't King Kong literally just a giant gorilla. Nothing about his design that can be copyrighted. Just his name? Though I guess the most recent movie gave him a scar and a snaggletooth.

I could have sworn someone at Pipeworks said he'd cost that much but I could be mistaken. I do know that Universal wants more for him then Toho usually wants for Godzilla.

And I know we could just make a giant ape and give it electricity related powers and he'd be just like the Kong from King Kong vs Godzilla minus the name, I'm just saying he's name would get even none Godzilla fan interested in the game and could more then make up the money it took to get him.
