CTHimes wrote:"Chitanoceras" is obviously a poor translation of Titanosaurus' Japanese name (Chitanozaurusu). As far as I can tell, the name originated from Michael Weldon's The Psychotronic Encyclopedia of Film (1983), which is one of the best cult film books ever written (despite errors like this one). To say that that book was an invaluable resource for other film writers is definitely an understatement.
So no, this author didn't make up too much (though it's obvious he didn't watch some of the movies). In fact, a lot of his info here seems to come from the aforementioned book, as well as other earlier books on cult movies ("Terror of Godzilla" as an alternate title for "Godzilla's Revenge" comes from a book by Don Glut, if memory serves). You have to remember that back in the 90s, even when the internet was around, there still wasn't a lot of great info on any of these movies out there. Yeah, some of this guy's reviews are pretty condescending, but give the man some credit. He did some research, even if it isn't all correct, and he got his book published, which I'm pretty sure no one here (myself included) has managed to do.
Research on a movie would usually start by watching the damn movie.
He's just some guy that used Godzillas name to sell his crappy book.
Plus people need to stop acting like real research was almost nonexistent till the internet came around. It just meant a REAL researcher had to get off his ass and actually find out what he needs to know to write a book.
