For discussions covering more than one Toho film or show that span across more than one “era.”

During the electrical blockade sequence in King Kong vs. Godzilla?

Nah...was it something in Frankenstein? It was the sound effect for something completely different...maybe a weapon in an ep of Ultraman?

I absolutely love the classic explosion sound effects that were used throughout the 60s and 70s (and a few times in the 80s). The infamous highway scene from Prophecies of Nostradamus is a good example:

Something that's always bugged me, some monsters emit sounds in the films that aren't released on the Sound Effects CDs. Why haven't they released all the sounds on CD yet?

I found it! They use that same sound for a door(!) in DAM - the scene where they go to the headquarters after the attack on Tokyo.

The "collapse" sound effect, used for any occasion where a building is destroyed. Also, the splashing water, the explosions (especially the '70s ones) and who could forget lightning sound effect, very different from that used in Hollywood films.
Every film should have at least one animal attack.

So many wonderful sound effects................................. But just HOW did Toho do them?

Toho sound effects are like Star Wars or Star Trek sound effects. You can just hear them anywhere and know what they belong too.

that said I think the old Showa rocket launchers stood out the most for me.
Sit back and relax.

You have to love those weird gun effects that sounded like chook! and chew!. They remind me more of a Buck Rogers blaster than an earth-bound handgun.
