Brad Pitt loves War of the Gargantuas

For discussions covering more than one Toho film or show that span across more than one “era.”

I don't really think you should real that much into it. This seems to happen a lot. Someone from Hollywood random acknowledges a random Japanese monster film and everyone then acts as if it means more than it really does.

It does mean something important. It means that a few people might recall that name, and head to Amazon or somewhere looking for the film. Hell, if even one person does that, I'm happy.

And I typed it into the "War of the Gargantuas" thread after hearing it, but what does it matter? Don't sweat it, man! ;)

It was a joke about there being multiple threads on the subject. No worries.

Yea I remember Pitt saying that in an interview part of the Oscars where they asked actors what one of the first films they say were.

In the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly, they have page of questions about the oscars and one of them is what movie was Brad Pitt talking about and they doing a short sentence on it.
I was mentioned in the SciFi Japan article about the appearence of extras on the Godzilla vs. Megalon DVD.

I'm not a big fan of Brad Pitt, but I was thrilled when he mentioned it.

Add Tim Burton to the list of Hollywood Gargantuafans: Likely as not you won't like what he has to say about the human actors (though in Russ Tamblyn's case, he's dead on) or dubbing, but he nails everything else:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WTKXIlDM ... re=related

I knew he was a fan of Destroy All Monsters, and Godzilla in general (hence the cameos in Pee Wee's Big Adventure and Mars Attacks!) but it's interesting how people, even in Hollywood, gravitate towards WotG. Can't blame 'em, it's easily one of Toho's best creature features.

So Brad Pitt, Tim Burton, Quentin Tarantino and the Crank guys are all into Gargantuas. I guess let's keep an eye out for more!

^ Don't forget the lead singer of Devo, who cover(ed) Kip Hamilton's "The Words Get Stuck in my Throat" at some of their shows.. WOTG is apparently his favorite movie of all time, and Russ Tambyn was shocked when he told him that.
