My girlfriend wants to watch a Godzilla movie - which one?

My girlfriend is coming over on Friday. She knows I love Godzilla and wants to watch a Godzilla movie with me. She's never seen one.

We're both in our 30s. Not sure if this is relevant, but in case it is, I thought I'd mention it.

Which movie do I put on? I have just about all of them on DVD.

You need to tell us what she even wants so we can even have a good idea of what film to suggest. Because it'd be really awkward if she wanted something fun and you show her something as morbid as G54 because we didn't know what to suggest.

Does she just want something fun and enjoyable or does she want something some what serious?

that would be a good light hearted film until the spider shows up... i would not want her to see godzilla vs spacegodzilla. that one is a little rough and the kid is captured near the beginning of all the fighting,

If your going for sad GvD or Tokyo SOS, Madison was close to. Balling when Mothra pushed herself into the air to save her kids from Godzilla's ray. Then again it might have had something to do with her mom.

We like "dark" movies. We enjoy supernatural horror / thrillers. Like The Omen. I thikn everybody enjoys a good comedy, but finding a good one is hard. We do have a dark sense of humour (like Bad Santa).

GMK, Biollante, and Terror of Mechagodzilla are my recommendation. Terror may not be super dark but for a late Showa film it has a rather depressing story to end the first series with.
