Are you watching a toho movie right now, if so, what?

For discussions covering more than one Toho film or show that span across more than one “era.”

Loving GMK. 8-) About half-way through it now...some amazing stuff!

Good acting! Good dialogue! Very well shot! Awesome effects! GREAT political statement! Wow.... (Only one gripe, really...those scumbag kids...the dog in the boat... :( ...I hope that their flesh is being melted from their bones while cocooned by the larva... Glad they showed that the pup was O.K. in the news footage.)

Now I get the gist of this evil-looking Godzilla figure that I have. (My wife got me a Godzilla a few years back that I dont much care for. He has a 90s-ish body, and his eyes are dead-white, like a zombie.)

Back to the film -
8-)

The Woman in the Dunes. Amazing film, especially given its dramatic sparsity. Thank god Criterion released this gem over here.

....Aaaaaand the beating heart at the ocean bottom. 8-) GRAND stuff! Man....too much spot-on dialogue and too many blow-out scenes to even mention! This one ranks WAY up there for me.

Small complaint/small admission: I would have liked to have heard more of the true Honda-San's marches, rather than silly boy band/techno-remix crap.
The last few father/daughter scenes, coupled with the ORIGINAL music being used at the very end, caused me to lose it a bit...

As a fan of Godzilla films for nearly 40 years, I will honestly say that this is a 3.8 out of 5, any day of the week.

Last night I watched a Godzilla audio commentary of Gojira. It was actually pretty interesting. I definitely plan to watch more!

After a few chores, I'm going to kick back with a couple of cold beers and watch Tamura's King Kong vs. Godzilla. :D

Watched most of the Japanese version of King Kong Escapes yesterday (up to the point where Kong breaks the mind control when digging for Element X). I'll watch the rest today.
There has never been a "Scientifically Accurate" Dinosaur portrayed on any Television Show, Movie, or Documentary. Only what the human imagination can conceive, and I'm ok with that.

The ending of that one. I remember being literally stunned with the message on the screen, and sitting in my chair with my jaw agape for a good 10 seconds. If I'd been holding anything in my hand, I would have dropped it.
