Are you watching a toho movie right now, if so, what?

For discussions covering more than one Toho film or show that span across more than one “era.”

I watched Daikaiju Varan for the first time a little while ago. Not too bad.

I am not watching a Toho movie right now. I don't think I'd ever split my time between a Toho sci-fi/fantasy movie and web browsing, because they're such visually-dependent movies. I almost never have them on just in the background, because all the fun is in the visuals.

The Bad Sleep Well

It's been a year or two since I last watched it, and I enjoyed the hell out of that picture all over again tonight. There is a lot of Hamlet in the movie, as is so often pointed out, but at its heart it's simply a nasty corporate crime story done extremely well. Boardroom noir, with enough death and despair to satisfy Mickey Spillane. I love every second of it.

Just finished "Godzilla vs the Sea Monster". I enjoy the movie, but it's obvious that this film had a smaller budget than the previous Godzilla movies, perhaps because it was originally supposed to be a vehicle for Kong.

King Kong Escapes

This one is starting to grow on me as one of my favorite non-Godzilla movies. Probably because it has decent human villains (Dr Who and Madame X) who are more interesting than the heros, especially Linda Miller and her "Kong??? Kooong!!!!". Geez, no wonder the big ape swam away at the end...

Space Amoeba

Quick question: When Obata is controlled by the alien, he mentions in the English dub that he is a race of Astro-something rather. Does this term come up at all in the original Japanese version?
