I didn't take either of your posts to be insulting or anything along those lines. But both you and Mini-Godzilla quoted my comment-- which was specifically about whether GMK and G'98 fit together
perfectly (italics!) or not-- and since neither post dealt with the point of that quote I decided to further explain what I meant.
But replies like "Hint: this is where I'm actually starting to be a jerk" and "why did you list my name first?" are hilarious and wonderful. I'm being completely honest when I say both of you made me laugh today. My sincere thanks!
Feel better, now?
I wasn't feeling bad before, but thank you for asking.

Let's look at what KPA says in regards to Godzilla's background in
Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah not meshing with his original background:
So my opinion (and it's just an opinion) is that the two Godzillas would have to be different species or Omori just ignored parts of G'54 that didn't fit his story and therefore Godzilla 54 in the Heisei series (but not the Showa) was also a Godzillasaur. Toho's played fast and loose with continuity before and since so whatever works for you would likely be fine.
I don't think I need to bold or italicize anything, do I?
I honestly wish you would have posted some highlights because I think-- again-- you missed my point there. I try to be as specific as possible when I write because it better conveys what I'm trying to say, so when discussing if something is "perfect" or not I'm actually going by the dictionary definition of of the word... exact, flawless, conforming absolutely, etc. G'98 and GMK can be linked only if you ignore/take liberties/retcon concepts and story points in one or both films. By the literal meaning of "perfect", that's not perfect.
Sorry my comments about Kaneko bothered you so, but I think his intentions (as well as Devlin and Emmerich's regarding their movie's connection to the Japanese films) make clear whether GMK and G'98 fit together perfectly or not. If D&E wanted G'98 to link perfectly with GODZILLA '54 or any other Toho movies they would have done so. If Kaneko wanted GMK to link perfectly to G'98 he would have done so. None of them did.
I've never said there's hasn't been retconning or taking liberties with continuity in the Godzilla films. In fact, I've brought this up many times before and even mentioned examples in my last post (take a look). So quoting an old post where I discuss this isn't exactly a shocker, and it certainly didn't contradict anything I posted here. If anything, you just used my own words to further support my point here... I had to answer a question with speculation because a key story point in GODZILLA VS KING GHIDORAH doesn't perfectly link to GODZILLA.
And if you doubt that, go back and read my
entire post (and I've highlighted some relevant lines):

Are you suggesting that the '54 Godzilla and the Heisei Godzilla are different species, with '54 Godzilla being the terrestrial/aquatic intermediate proposed by Yamane, and the Heisei Godzilla being a mutant Godzillasaurus?
Hey Titanosaurus75, I'm just catching up on this thread so hopefully my answer isn't too late. Whether the 54 and 84 Godzillas were completely different species
is open to speculation, and I tried to avoid any personal guessing in that article and stick only to what was shown in the movies. Honda, Murata, and the others directly involved in creating Godzilla provided its backstory in GODZILLA '54.
What Omori invented for GODZILLA VS KING GHIDORAH doesn't fit with G'54 (the movie)... the Godzillasaur is clearly not a terrestrial/aquatic intermediate species living in the manner described by Yamane, and it wouldn't have inspired the legend of Odo Island... even the islands in G-54 and GvsKG are nowhere near each other. So my opinion (and it's just an opinion) is that the two Godzillas would have to be different species or

I wouldn't have thought of this post so thanks for providing such good corroboration, bananoil.

See? Even Mini-Godzilla agrees that the proper use of words does matter.

Looking back, my choice of words reflect what I meant both here and in the old GvsKG thread so I wouldn't change them now. I don't think saying an opinion is an opinion is a matter of decency; it's just being accurate. When I make a statement of fact I try to back that up with information, and if I'm speculating or giving an opinion I want others to know that and accept (or reject) it for what it is.
