Who hasn't seen all the Godzilla films?

For discussions covering more than one Toho film or show that span across more than one “era.”

I haven't seen the original Godzilla VS. Mechagodzilla, Son of Godzilla, and The Return of Godzilla. And I only vaguely remember Godzilla VS. Biollante.

I also wish Sony would release the original Japanese audio tacks for their earlier releases, like Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah and Godzilla 2000. Same goes for King Kong VS. Godzilla. I just can't stand dubbing, whether it be in a Godzilla film, or its uses in the original Star Wars, where it was used to hide British accents, including Wedge's. It has worked in the past, and when it does so, it works well, but I often prefer it when its standard ADR, to make dialogue more audible or to replace a mistake, not to cover up a language for those who are a bit too lazy to read subtitles.

Ah man..You gotta see MECHAGODZILLA '74. That's one of the most fun, for real. The disk also definitely has Japanese audio, so you're good brah.

It is seemingly now the most expensive Godzilla film that I do not own. Thanks to both Amazon increasing the price and the after market sellers trying to up the price.

I haven't seen The Return of Godzilla because nobody wants to release it on DVD here in the States. And I dont have VHS.

^Same here, I've seen the American version dozens of times but never the Japanese one in its entirety. I really should get on that..

Edit: Same with the Japanese version of G2K.

The only ones I have yet to see are the Kiryu movies and Final Wars. There are plenty of others I haven't seen in years, though, and I didn't start caring about plot and such (in kaiju movies, anyway) until the last three or four years. The only ones I'd say I know well enough to have a real opinion on are those in The Godzilla Collection, GMK, G2K, GvsB, KKvsG, G&M:TBFE and GvsKG.

I own even fewer of them, unfortunately. Just The Godzilla Collection, and beat-up old VHS copies of GvsB, KKvsG and GvsKG, though I don't have a VCR. I still don't have a job for various reasons, and my parents are understandably hesitant to buy the DVDs very often. Plus I usually have more pressing items on my Christmas and birthday lists. They're at the top of this year's Christmas list, though.

I haven't used a VCR since probably 2004/5. I don't miss it.

I still use one. I mainly use it to record stuff of my Wii console.

The only Godzilla films that I haven't seen yet are as follows:

Invasion of the Astro Monster/Godzilla vs Monster Zero/Monster Zero

Godzilla vs Ebirah/Godzilla vs the Sea Monster

Godzilla vs Hedorah/Godzilla vs the Smog Monster.

That being said, I found the latter two films on Youtube recently. I really should get around to watching them before they get taken down.

It all depends on the availability of your favorite films. If I could locate any picture I wanted on DVD, or download them of the net, I wouldn't need the VCR. As it stands, I'll probably be using it for years to come. Granted, I rarely watch VHS, but the machine's on hand when I need it.

Maybe someone covered this on another thread (didn't find one using Search, though)... but has anyone seen Monster Planet of Godzilla? Interested in your reactions, if so.

I thought about taking a big chunk out of one day in Tokyo to head out to Sanrio Puroland to take this in, but given the choice between spending what that would have cost, on admission to a nightmare world ruled by Hello Kitty, no less, or spending it on more collectibles, the collectibles won.

A little MPG footage is available here...

...and there's also a book with photos I was lucky enough to find.

It's interesting to watch just to see the differences between the two versions, but it's not that riveting.

Indeed. I think I've fallen asleep trying to watch it (again) on more than one occasion. The music, and sound editing, is also pretty bad.
