Same here, it's like the modern day Godzilla vs Megalon or Godzilla vs Gigan in a sense.

Godzilla Vs Megaguirus is not that bad but compared with GMK, 2000 and such. it just gets push aside.
Its the equivalent of MEGALON or GIGAN in the Millenium series as LC stated.
Unstoppable Fury , Unthinkable Power , Unbreakable Will.

Maybe but I think it's still above Godzilla vs. Gigan and Godzilla vs. Megalon...especially Megalon.

Godzilla x Megaguirus is easily one of the most legitimately unpleasant film experiences ever. I don't keep standards particularly high for a Godzilla film to atleast be entertaining, but GxM doesn't even remotely work as anything simple and pleasant. I don't want to say "worst film I've ever seen", but it's pretty close.

MEGAGUIRUS is seriously boring as hell, and has some of the most unlikeable characters in any film ever. No way in hell I'd ever watch it over GIGAN or MEGALON.

Outside of Godzilla Raids Again, Godzilla X Megaguirus is the most boring Godzilla film. Within the first five minutes, I've already lost interest because they make it very clear that this isn't the same Godzilla that I've been watching for years. I can hardly stand to watch it from start to finish.

Godzilla vs. Gigan and Godzilla vs. Megalon at least have a certain charm to them, mostly because you can tell that the creators had at least of a hint of caring for the product they were making. But GxM? It doesn't feel like the creators cared at all. They just wanted a pay check.

The Oxygen Destroyer never happened. The Godzilla from Godzilla survived. That changes everything. It means that you can't even really say that Godzilla actually happened, because they changed the events of the film.

So this isn't the same Godzilla story that I've known and loved. Thus, I have no interest in what happens.

Wasn't that the point of the Millennium series though, so use the original as a basis for new stories?

Especially the bitchy lead female character and that idiot scientist who has the hots for her (he was the most annoying) Actually, aside from the dad scientist, his daughter, and both Prime Ministers in Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, all the characters in Tezuka's Godzilla films are unlikable and annoying (sans Hiroshi Koizumi as Chujo in SOS, since he was an old character brought back for the film) imo

Except that the only films in the Millennium series that use the original film as a basis were GMK and the Kiryu Saga. Godzilla 2000 and GFW never reference other Godzilla films, including the original. GxM takes the original film, but changes the ending to suit its own needs.

That would be like if there was an Episode 7 of the Star Wars series, but they changed the ending of The Return Of The Jedi so that Vader never killed the Emperor, just so that the Emperor could still be the villain of the film.

Technically, that was the point of the Millennium series, but it was very poorly executed.

That GxM changed Gojira's ending doesn't bother me in the least. Actually, I prefer it over what happened in the other timelines. The original Godzilla being killed by the Oxygen Destroyer worked fine in the context of that movie, but less so if it's part of a larger story. I've never liked that it was a different Godzilla that went on to star in the rest of the movies. I like to sort of ignore that detail and pretend that there's only been one G per timeline, excluding offspring and the Kiryu movies.

Wow GxM gets bashed a lot more than it should. I'm just going to throw this out there...it is one of my favorite Godzilla films for multiple reasons. The suit, Megaguirus, loved the Dimension Tide attempt scenes and the final battle is entertaining. I really like the film and I don't find the actors and actresses to be any worse than some of the other G films. And you shouldn't be to upset about GxM changing what happened in the original.

Cool story bro.

MEGAGUIRUS is one of the least liked Godzilla films ever, both here at TK, other Godzilla forums, and about 99% of the fans I've talked to at G-Fest, and elsewhere. It sucks.
