Exactly! I don't know why some keep saying it's overrated when they are among the first I've seen to praise it at all. How can something be overrated if it is constantly put down by it's own fanbase?

People still haven't explained what's overrated about The Return of Godzilla.

The only positive thing I've ever heard about Mothra '92 is Battra.

He used a ferris wheel as a weapon, something we haven't seen since the Showa days with boulders. Bad movie, cool monster. Though the underwater fight with Larval Battra and the volcano scene are pretty cool.

A Big G film I forgot to mention (or at least make a bigger point of) is Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah! I just rewatched it again for like the 6th or 7th time and it is my favorite Heisei Godzilla film and in my top 5 favorite Godzilla movies of all time as well! Godzilla's suit was incredible, King Ghidorah in both forms had a very cool design and perfect size, the shot when we get a close up of Godzilla walking over the hill after he emerges from the water is such a great shot, both main battles are great and I was actually entertained by the story and characters.

Yeah, seriously. Most people say it's "boring". One guy on the old forums said he disliked it simply on the basis that "Godzilla has a smashed-in face, and looks like an ape".

Excuse me? Jesus, I've spent most of my life just trying to get fans to give it a chance. It's only been recently that people have eased up on the flaws and started giving the rest of the movie some credit. Great art design? Check. Decent effects? Yup. An actual theme? Hell yes.

If anything, it's just gaining back ground that it was unfairly gypped out of for decades.

I think most of GvM deserves the negativity it gets. The human story is a cliched mess, which isn't the death knell for a sci-fi script, but it is when they're the least interesting cliches around. Broken family with an irresponsible father? I think the Lifetime and Hallmark networks play that story approximately sixty-seven times per week.

Another problem? Most of the daytime sfx scenes look like crap. They're fun and all, but the models simply look terrible under the studio lighting. The sequences shot on the water do look much more natural than the urban stuff, though.

Now, the nighttime effects sequences are another matter entirely. Not to get into debates about the actual fighting in the picture (Mothra shooting lasers? Sigh), I'm just going to give the crew credit for the sfx and the general cinematography of those scenes. I do think that the good monster footage in this film is underrated, just because it's stuck inside an otherwise poor film.

To be honest, Godzilla vs Mothra (1992), does have some good moments, like Godzilla and Battra fighting underwater, but its just that I didn't like it as much as the other Heisei Godzilla films. Also the English dubbing for the movie is just AWFUL!!! The little girl is really annoying, and you have that one guy who's always whining, he's all just "Oh no, what could possibly stop all of them." The only memorable human character in my opinion is Miki, and thats it. I don't know, maybe if I find the movie in Japanese with english subtitles, I'll probably like it a little more.

Perhaps I'm saying it wrong, but whenever theres I find a Godzilla movie on TV nowadays, it's almost always Godzilla vs Mothra (1992), & it gets tiring at times. Like I'm always wanting to find others that I haven't seen in a long time like Godzilla 1985, or Godzilla vs Biollante, or even some from the Showa series like Destroy All Monsters, or King Kong vs Godzilla.

That also doesn't make the film overrated.

And it may be due to the fact that the channels showing those Godzilla movies can only show Godzilla movies owned by Sony, and that Godzilla and Mothra: The Battle For Earth was one of the highest grossing Godzilla films. Thus the channel thinks the film is successful.

Perhaps, it's just I don't think it's as good as most of the other Heisei Godzilla films, it's better than Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla, I'll give it that.

But you're completely missing the point. Godzilla vs. Mothra isn't overrated because not too many people really think highly of it in the first place.
