I haven't really seen those films in a long time but I remember they being especially bad with terrible suit designs and effects. Maybe Hedorah is not that bad but Godzilla's revenge and Son Of Godzilla did have some pretty bad effects.GotengoXGodzilla wrote:Godzilla Vs Hedroah (flying godzilla)

...How do any of these films have bad effects?
Outside of the flying Godzilla prop, Godzilla vs. Hedorah has pretty damn good effects. For example, the Oil Refinery scene still looks impressive today and blows my mind every time I watch it.
All Monsters Attack, while only have one or two scenes with new special effects, pulls off those effects just fine. I can't complain about how they look, since they're done competently.
Son Of Godzilla has some of the best effects of the Showa series. The final fight in the snow is done so well that it nearly takes on a whole other level of beauty. Not to mention, if you're watching the Sony DVD version of the film, the Kamacuras and Kumonga props look stunning with the color enhancements.

Well I guess I don't have too much room to talk as I haven't seen those three films in a long time but I do remember them being terrible movies, well except for maybe son of Godzilla because its so bad its funny.GotengoXGodzilla wrote:I haven't really seen those films in a long time but I remember they being especially bad with terrible suit designs and effects. Well, for one, suit designs are not special effects, therefore they don't matter for this particular topic. Two, I don't see how All Monsters Attack and Son Of Godzilla have bad effects. I was impressed by the effects in Son Of Godzilla and firmly believe they're some of the best in the franchise. All Monsters Attack's effects are competent and I see no reason to complain about them.
There are plenty of things to complain about in All Monsters Attack, but the effects in the new scenes are not one of them.

...Godzilla vs. Hedorah and Son Of Godzilla, critically, are great films. Some of the best of the entire franchise. There is very little bad about either film.
Godzilla vs. Hedorah, while differing greatly from all other Godzilla films, is interesting for that very same reason. The film is done with competence and respect towards the subject matter, with a style which makes the film immediately grab your attention and the film never lets go. Style is what makes this film so interesting. The way certain scenes are shot, the animated segments, the odd artistic decisions and more. These parts give the film a life of its own.
Son Of Godzilla, on the other hand, is a near perfect monster movie. The story is tight yet focused, the characters are developed, the monsters actually do more than just act like monsters (as in they're given character and behave as such), the action scenes serve a purpose in terms of the story, the effects are well done, the music sets the atmospheric tone while breathing life into the film, it has themes of helping the next generation of one's kind, and it one of the best endings of the entire franchise. It really has everything a monster film should have. The only problem I see with the film is the Godzilla suit, which is still one of the worst. Outside of that though, you really can't ask for a better monster film.
All Monsters Attack has lots of problems, but it's a respectable piece of work. I don't particularly care for it, but I know plenty of people that like it.
Honestly, I would take Godzilla vs. Hedorah and Son Of Godzilla over just about every Godzilla film made after 1975.
EDIT: If you haven't seen any of those films, how do you know they're terrible?

If I want Goddamn Real I'll look out mai widuh.

I remember Hedorah as an all over the place film. It really doesn't know what it wan't to be. It is a godzilla movie? It some kinda of drug enducing trip out movie? Or is it is a children's film aimed to bring an environmental message in the film? There were just too many different elements in the movie that didn't blend in with one another. Some parts were just really weird and dark and some parts were just plain silly.
As for Son Of Godzilla I appreciated that it did something different but I just couldn't take it seriously (ok I don't really take any Godzilla film seriously, except for maybe the original) there are just so many silly moments I can't help but laugh. Its entertaining, but silly.
As for Godzilla's Revenge I don't touch that film anymore. Son of Godzilla was funny but Revenge or All out Attack (never heard it called that) was just painful for me to watch.

There is little to no recycled effects used in Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla and Terror Of MechaGodzilla.

Unless you count the flipped footage of Mechagodzilla unloading his arsenal in Terror of Mechagodzilla. Or the "flashback" moments when Katsura mentions Rodan, Manda and King Ghidorah.
