I’ve heard some people argue that Orga’s design and arc (an imperfect and corrupted alien imitation of Godzilla trying desperately to absorb and replace the real thing) is supposed to be a swipe at G98.

But I think that’s a stretch myself. I don’t see that much of a resemblance in the designs and that particular interpretation of Orga’s character seems like an attempt to see a meaning where there isn’t one.

Maybe I’m wrong, though. I never watch commentaries, but according to Wikizilla the US commentary track for G2000 alleges that Orga was intentionally modelled after the TriStar design in some respects, so maybe there’s more to the idea than I give it credit for.

I doubt this is what that meme is referring to, but there are a few scenes in G2K that I think were inspired by GINO.
