Monster X actually worsened due to being attached to Ghidorah. It was certainly humanoid, but it had a very distinct design in contrast to past monsters.

Why's that? As fun as they are, the 70s films copied the formula of GvMZ. Especially Gigan.

Well...Godzilla vs. Monster Zero is one of the few Godzilla films
I find boring & severely overrated by others in the fandom...&
the 70's is my favorite era of Godzilla films with vs. Hedorah,
vs. Megalon & vs. MechaGodzilla being 3 of my all time favorites.

While I understand the 70's films may have simply copied the
formula laid out by Monster Zero & Destroy All Monsters...I
just find the 70's films more fun...even if their overall quality
is lacking.

So...I'm basically saying that even though Monster Zero &
Destroy All Monsters are BETTER films...I personally prefer
the Godzilla films of the 70's.

That's fine. I wasn't trying to make the case that Monster Zero is better, just that the 70s films largely copied its formula (with the notable exception being Hedorah).

Just out of curiosity, what are the other Godzilla films that you find boring?

Oh Boy...well...

Monster Zero...
(For the record I don't actually count All Monsters Attack as a "proper" Godzilla film)
vs. Gigan...
vs. King Ghidorah...
vs. Mothra 92 (although the films does come to life whenever the Battra Larvae in on screen)...

And if I'm being perfectly honest...Godzilla 2000 is kind of flat until Orga shows up.

Of course this is just my opinion/observations...and I'm sure I'd enjoy all of these films
if I was watching them with some other diehard kaiju fans...but these would be the last
films I'd personally suggest to watch.

No, not really.

But it's more faithful an adaption. And more arguably more fun.

"The only human characters you remember"? Seriously? I mean, I know not seriously, but a joke still has to have some basis in truth to be funny.

The Heisei series also gave us Prof. Hayashida, Dr. Shiragami, Col. Kuroki, Emmy Kano, M-11, Wilson, Fujita, Ando, Aoki, Maj. Yuki, Kenichi Yamane...
