Best human characters in Godzilla films

Now, Godzilla films aren't exactly known for compelling human characters, but a certain few break the mold in a big way. I want to know who YOU think is the best human character in a Godzilla movie.
I'd personally say either Dr. Serizawa from the original Gojira film, or Joe Brody from 2014. How about you guys?

Doctor Mafune and Katsura are the two human characters that come into mind whenever I think about Godzilla movies in general, they're just that good. Characters don't always need to change greatly or have a lot of development to be "good", they just have to pop out when compared to others around them.

Yuri Tachibana and her father Admiral Tachibana are also characters I really like from GMK. I love how determined they both are. I guess father-daugher duos are usually great in the Godzilla franchise.

I already suggested Miyasaka. And I agree, Godzilla 2000 has a really strong ensemble. At the time, I really felt like the Shinoa/Miyasaka/Katagiri dynamic should have been explored over the course of a trilogy.

Yeah, I'd third other characters from 2000. Right now, Miki, Akane, and Gordon are the only viable contenders, for me... but I'd take a majority of eabaker's list (or Shinoda) over them.

Given the choices, I guess I gotta go with Rando Yaguchi. It was a close call with Dr. Mafune, but Yaguchi is just so darn likable.

Hard to choose. I mean Joe is easily the best thing about G14 by a wide margin. He puts in a better performance than the entire rest of the cast combined. There's gotta be something said for that. I really do like the cast of both GMK and Son of Godzilla. Son has one of the most enjoyable casts in the whole series. It's one of the reasons I love it so much.

Yamane because he's not involved in the turning point at Serizawa's house right after Godzilla's attack. Yamane raises lots of interesting questions and points for the audience, explains a couple of things and finally spells out the ending, but I always thought the most important characters were Emiko, Serizawa, and Ogata since they're pretty much the emotional core of the movie.
