I agree completely. Not exactly my favorite film, but even within it- that guy is pretty creepy.

Even the other characters see it, too. Which always bothered me.Zarm wrote:I agree completely. Not exactly my favorite film, but even within it- that guy is pretty creepy.
And as we all know...buying a body pillow & making one are completely different.Maritonic wrote:I could absolutely see him making a body pillow.
Oh, definitely. Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla is quite literally Godzilla vs. Megaguirus 2.0. I like to think of Megaguirus as a test-bed for the concept... and Against MechaGodzilla as taking what they learned, and executing the concept correctly. (But then, I know other people do not see Against MechaGodzilla as as much of a success as I do).Maritonic wrote:Even the other characters see it, too. I always felt her character was a failed attempt at what later would be done successfully with Akane's character.
Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla is far superior to Megaguirus, no doubt there.Zarm wrote:Oh, definitely. Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla is quite literally Godzilla vs. Megaguirus 2.0. What character?Maritonic wrote:would be done successfully with Akane's character.
I'm with Grievous on this one. Frankly, not one of Tezuka's entries in the series offers a single character I feel remotely invested in. That's probably part of why Megaguirus is my least-un-favorite of the three; at least it clearly knows it's a dumb, shallow movie, so it just has fun with it. The Kiryu flicks have nothing more to offer dramatically, and yet they take themselves so seriously!Grievous wrote:What character?Maritonic wrote:would be done successfully with Akane's character.

No really...she's actually a great character.
I take it all back.

Although Tezuka's films have plenty of problems, I'll take his efforts in the Kiryu Duology over the human drama in any of Okawara's Heisei films. But they're both letdown by writer Wataru Mimura.eabaker wrote:Frankly, not one of Tezuka's entries in the series offers a single character I feel remotely invested in. I know. But Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla seems to be the most popular of his trilogy and has the fan favorite Akane, so I assumed that most people think of when it comes to him. It was also his most successful film.Terasawa wrote:Mimura is a bad screenwriter but the only Tezuka film he’s solely responsible for is GXMG.
But...I don't think that was for the way she was written...kamilleblu wrote:and has the fan favorite Akane
