It's funny... Unless I'm totally wrong, that very shot in the movie was cut smaller so you can' see his upper body. Looks much less 'bowling pin', more 'giant legs'. It was just an awful shot, and it seems like they recognized that, too.

I feel people need to realize this isn't your 'big epic monster fighting super dinosaur'. Its SUPPOSED to be disgusting and odd looking. Like nature itself, it doesn't care what you think.

Looking back I honestly don't think that shot was even in the movie. When Shin comes ashore I believe it's shot from a completely different angle. Memory is vague but I remember watching the film and thinking that the shot looked different.

For good reason though. It's a piss-ugly shot.

Some of my favourite designs (not in any order for now) include ShodaiGoji, Burning Godzilla, Shin Godzilla, Legendary Godzilla, MireGoji, Godzilla 2001, and 1973-75. I may get some hate for this but I actually don't like KingGoji or MosuGoji that much.

I've been trying to categorize my top ten favorites recently and it is shockingly tough, but I think I have to go:

1. Godzilla 1964 / Mosugoji
2. Godzilla 1965-66 (there are only minor differences between the two but I like them both)
3. Godzilla 1989 / BioGoji
4. Godzilla 1962
5. Godzilla 2014
6. Kiryugoji / 2002-03
7. Godzilla 2000
8. Godzilla 1955 / Gigantis (I don't recall the other nickname for him and I always feel like a poseur when I use them anyway :P )
9. Godzilla 1984
10. Godzilla 1975

I like Shin Godzilla a lot, personally (even though I hated it at first), but it doesn't quite crack my top ten.

My bottom two?

2. Godzilla 1968-71
1. Godzilla 1967

Aside from the cool damage it received fighting Hedorah, I have never understood why the 1968 suit was so popular. It has all the flaws of the 1967 suit, just slimmer.

As Mechagigan said, it was cropped in the finished film. You saw him only from the hips down.

Sadly no, they did scan the puppet thing though to create the cgi model.

Still counts as a design, right?

Also, didn't they also use motion capture?

Miregoji's my favorite suit. Design-wise, it's between that, Shodaigoji, LPG, and the DAM suit (I'm not sure why, I've just always liked it). Shout out to the 98 design, too. Ignoring it's meant to be godzilla, I really like it's look.

Choosing a favorite is really hard. I really love the 84 and 89/91 designs but gotta admit Shin is really moving up the ranks. Of course I love MosuGoji too. GMK, GFW, and G14 are honorable mentions.

My all time favorites would have to be...

Godzilla 1954- i love the body shape and spines on this guy, plus the head is perfect. Can't go wrong with the classic.

Godzilla 1964- Definitive "bad guy" Goji, everything about this guy looks mean and menacing. I love those heavy brows and those malevolent eyes peering out from under them.

Godzilla 1975- my definitive "hero" Goji. He looks mean, yet still at the same time, very heroic looking. Wasn't a fan of the puppy dog look of 73, 74 improved the face, but 75 really got it right.

I'm also a pretty huge Shin fan, the design looks so appealing shape wise, and those bent in legs make him look amazing. The beady eel eyes also rock
Never forget tadpole :godzilla:

I like the 2004 suit best, mostly because it was the first one I ever saw. It also just looks cool to me
I calculated the odds of this succeeding vs the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid, and I went ahead and did it anyways.

1: Megarogoji 74 ( I feel like the face of this suit is more well rounded in 1974 than in 73 or 75.) Godzilla seemed genuinely pissed off When he was scaling that hill before the final battle.
2: Mosugoji (I respect the badass look in MvsG and enjoyed the somewhat more characterized face in GTTHM) they put so much effort into it & it shows!
3: Shodaigoji ...
4: Deisensogoji 1965 (former favorite.)
5: Biogoji (the face almost looks like that of a real animal.)
6: Kiryugoji 2002 (it has possibly the most expressive Godzilla face ever.)
Never forget the Showa Era, R.I.P, Haruo Nakajima 8/7/2017. :g64:

Me, too. '73 looks too much like a puppy dog while '75 just looks... off to me.

'74 makes great use of the suit's static eyes... From some angles he looks just as friendly as '73, while in others, he looks more mean than ever before. It's definitely my favorite Godzilla 'face'.
