Why was Dougherty fascinated with mythological beings from the west in particular?

I don't think anyone refuted that, did they?

Because.... he was making a westernized film?

Ah, is that why the film sports such a pro-nuke message?

Ah, is that why the film's so pro-nuke? I was wondering about that.
Well yes, that's exactly why, they're giving their own perspective of the incident.

Misread the sarcasm earlier, was half-asleep.

It is weird there aren't any Eastern mythological names for "Titans" now that Goji_and_Watch mentions it.

What do you mean exactly? Are you asking why there's no Eastern inspired monsters in GKOTM?

I mean depending on how you define “Eastern” there’s a number that could qualify
Orochi’s the one that I think would be universally considered as Eastern

Yeah that's why I was asking what she meant because Titanus Orochi is in Mt. Fuji.

I wasn't sure if she meant why are there no Eastern Titans or if she was asking if there was an Eastern term for "Titan".

Actually I guess it has, huh
Fish Cakes wrote:There's an Orochi? Huh, my bad.
Yeah, but it's one of the ones that doesn't actually show up in the film other than a name

Honestly, I agree that the westernized name for the Kaiju from KOTM feel jarring.

Like, Behemoth has a cool design and stuff, but it has such a generic name that it doesn't stand out. There are at least a million other Behemoths in other franchises and media I like

That's something I've always liked about Godzilla in reference to other giant monster things. The Kaiju have their own proper name that belongs to them, and to them alone.

Shinomura was a cool name, shame it was relegated to a D-list Kaiju that we will never see again

Cheesy, but still a better name!

Heck, if you wanted to keep the whole behemoth dynamic:
Elehemoth.
