Some really choice comments:
"he looks like a fuckin’ Chuck E. Cheese animatronic"

"Note that the original King Kong from the 1920s looked a lot better than the Japanese version from GvKK."

All of those things are true though, that's some of the many reasons why we love the suit.

The puppet looks bad but the attitude in the comments was definitely along the lines of "finally Legendary is fixing Toho's properties and making it good this time around." Whole lot of "new CGI = better" in there.

Definitely a cherry picked image anyways. Is the suit vastly better looking? Nah, but you might as well use it when you're not using a picture of Godzilla's puppet.

hey man 98 didnt start out as some weird tadpole turkey thing

And him dying at the end was just a clever easter egg referencing the original, there are many little things like this in the film but you have to be a pretty hardcore fan to see them

The conflict between Audrey and Tatapolous is just a callback to Serizawa and Emiko. Shin doesn't have any romantic love triangle and doesn't remain true to the core of the series.
