Godzilla 1998 was the only Kaiju film really available to me since I live in the UK and didn't have internet growing up. But once I had it I found out about the other Godzilla films through clips of FW and through people making toy reviews. I didn't really have that much of an ignited interest in Godzilla until maybe 2013 or so, just in time for the G2014 trailer, but I certainly liked the series before then. Just wasn't a proper fan. Most of what I knew about it actually came from books, I read a lot of books on sci-fi and horror monsters.

And as this is the cringe thread, I'll just share the related tidbit of the time I was reading on of said books and someone I knew pointed to a picture of Godzilla who had pretty noticeable pecs in an illustration and said "See, you can really tell its a female!!" and I genuinely could not convince her otherwise. Because she thought Godzilla had straight up boobs.

I still wanna know if there's a thread for stories of misconceptions like that. Yknow what I mean? I looked, but couldn't find one. There's a certain kick I get from reading about people saying weird things about Godzilla.

I had an idea once, but IDK if it's cringe or not-still, I'm gonna assume it is so I'm posting it here

The basic premise is that it's Godzilla meets Pokemon (or perhaps for more accurate scale, Bakugan): People having the ability to summon various TOHO kaiju to help protect their homes and cities, as well as battling it out to see whose the strongest 'summoner' (in lieu of trainers because you can't truly control giant superpowered monsters). Some Kaiju are one of a kind (ie Godzilla, Anguirus, Mothra) whereas others are an entire 'species' (ie Kamacuras, Kumonga, Meganula) thus allowing multiple people to have more than one monster to them. These people might have some sort of mental link with them, helping to direct their actions.

There'd also be sorts of 'cards' or 'augments' to bolster their monsters-for example, Gigan could transform from his Showa form into his Final Wars form, and then even further into his Modified version; Godzilla could enter his 'Burning' state, and MechaGodzilla 2 or 3 could get their weapon packs and stuff.

Of course, you'd have people wanting to use more evil or powerful monsters for their own ends, with the implication being that the people who are connected to these monsters are not nearly as in control of the evil kaiju as they think-meaning it's up to the good monsters and 'summoners' to stop them.

Basically Godzilla; Trading Battle, but a TV show or something and more overtly "Mon" in terms of setting.

I kinda hate when people gate keep if that the right term for it. Like saying you should only watch these type film and if not they say you’re not a “true” Godzilla fan

Well thank you! Admittedly that doesn't necessarily seem like a high bar to cross, especially considering the quality of said sultry SpaceGodzilless is less than...well, 'great' tbh.

If you ask me, I'm not sure why you even posted your idea in this thread, it isn't exactly cringeworthy at all. It's just a wild idea. It's not one I personally think is that great, because I wouldn't want the series to devolve into "we can make toys out of this!" fodder, but it's not bad.
