I really just don't care or like Gacha videos all that much, especially Gacha react-They seem so low effort and dumb, and not in a good way

DirektorSplennic wrote: Tue Apr 06, 2021 3:06 pm A little thing that makes me cringe just a tad, more so laugh, is whenever someone is explaining Godzilla and Kong's history, they'll touch over their vastly different sizes they've had in the past and will *always* say "Godzilla is taller than the Empire State Building" in reference to how much smaller Kong was than Godzilla. Some are probably hyperbole, but it's said so much when it's so far from the truth. Only Earth ever got close to that height.
I have literally never encountered someone making this claim. It's unmistakably absurd.
Cinemassacre and Chris Stuckmann are two examples.
Cinemassacre definitely came to mind for me. I think thats a common idea for people who aren't super involved in the series. Which I don't take James as being. Like you can tell he's a big Godzilla fan but its not like his favorite series that he constantly watches or reads about, so Im not too surprised he doesn't have all the information correct. I definitely feel like a lot of people who just like Godzilla movies aren't going to know exactly how tall he is OR exactly how tall the Empire State Building is. Idk much about Chris Stuckmann but I assume he is the same.

I found it funny that James actually claims in one video that the showa Godzilla is taller than the twin towers were. I believe that they were far taller than the Empire State Building too.

As much as I love Rolfes love of the series, I kinda hate his influence.

Because he was one of the first big YouTubers to discuss the series in depth, all of his facts and opinions became the influencers for MILLIONS of new fans.

I solely blame him for the bad reception the late Showa films got, and like, it ain't just baseless correlation. How many people who dump on Son of Godzilla bring up that fucking Pillsbury Doughboy comparison?

On that note, if I hear another one of his jokes about DESOTROYAH!!!!111111 or whatever again, I'm gonna scream

I mean, the Showa Films were already riff material on things like MST3K long before Rolfe ever talked about the series. Solely blaming him for fan perception of that feels like making a scapegoat out of an actual fan of the series.

Yeah, there's plenty of blame to go around.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

Speaking of Rolfe, he apparently turned down a cameo role in GVK in order to look after his daughter? That's pretty admirable.

By all accounts Rolfe is a pretty cool guy so this would not shock me.

Honestly, Im thankfull for Rolfe. I didn't know half of these movies existed before I watched Monster Madness. And Im sure many other Gen Zers with no knowledge of 60s monster movies also got introduced to them through him. But, fair point to Noodles, looking back I do realize a number of my positions on these movies in the past WERE INDEED based on what he said in those videos. I dont mind though. If someone is genuinely interested in the franchise they will learn pretty quickly that his opinions are just opinions and his facts are sometimes incorrect. Movies he hated/didnt recommend like Ebirah and Gigan are actually some of my favorite.

Out of any gamer you've ever heard, he's surely the one with the worst temper.
In fact, he's quite notorious for it.
