Showa all the way. Not only did this one look the best, but as a special effect, this one was executed the best.

Showa. The original and still the best. He looked great, he had the best roar, he was a planet-killing alien that travelled in a meteor... he had a lot going for him. And he managed to really feel dangerous and menacing. The only downside would be that he couldn't actually fight all that well. But everything else about him was cool enough to make up for it.
Hesiei would be second place. His pathetic origin and reletive weakness aside, he looked very good and could actually fight intelligently. He would've killed Godzilla if not for the nuclear pulse.
GMK is third place, if mainly for the electric bites. Those things were awesome, and I hope future versions of Ghidorah reuse them.
Hesiei would be second place. His pathetic origin and reletive weakness aside, he looked very good and could actually fight intelligently. He would've killed Godzilla if not for the nuclear pulse.

I respect Showa Ghidorah the most, but Des Ghidorah just looks boss, and has a badass name.

Showa Ghidorah has that creepy look to him - the way his heads are all over the place and his eyes are pretty black. Oh, and that cackle. He's kinda crazy.

yeah the Showa Ghidorah was the Joker of the Godzilla, just total Chaos.
his later incarnations are more simply Direct Methodical Evil

I agree! I love Showa Ghidorah, but IMO Death Ghidorah is just more sinister-looking.

SHOWA IS MY FAVORITE GHIDORAH!!!
But in all seriousness, the original, planet destroying, mane wearing, Ghidorah is my favorite.

Grand King Ghidorah all the way. He's got the best design by far, and he's one of the most powerful Toho kaiju to date. Easily capable of taking on any other Ghidorah, and his roar is pretty cool too. This is what the Heisei Ghidorah should of been.

For portrayal, Showa King Ghidorah
For design, Grand King Ghidorah
For design, Grand King Ghidorah

I very much consider TFA to be half-assed. What a generic film which only fed on nostalgia, it brought nothing new to the table.

Appearance wise, Grand King Ghidorah. In terms of execution, have to go with the original Showa version.

Re: Favorite Version of King Ghidorah
My favorite is the original Showa design, for pretty much the same reasons everyone else has already mentioned.
Grand King Ghidorah gets second place for being the closest thing to the original SINCE the original.
I will also give '01 Ghidorah credit for having a great suit, despite obvious conceptual flaws.
I consider Death Ghidorah a separate entity from KG, due to a vastly different design and the lack of "King" in the name. That said, I really like him as his own kaiju, and would be happy to see him return someday.
