Remember how Gamera vs Guiron introduced Space Gyaos? Well, it wasn't always going to be like that. This creature here is called Monga. It was going to be the monster killed by Guiron. But Daiei decided to just recycle the Gyaos suits and props instead of waste money on a second new monster for the film that wasn't even going to be the main focus. It flies like Varan does, is based on a flying squirrel and everything.

Imagine getting angry your out of date and obsolete stats for rubber suit monsters were 'stolen'.

Pretty cool find. I knew they wanted to use a different monster but I didn't know they had planed as far as making a design for it.

Time to bring this thread back from the dead.

I was browsing Deviantart and found a dude who had a lot of fan-art based on obscure and unmade Godzilla monsters. There were usual things like Bagan, Deutalios, Ghidollante, etc, but then I stumbled upon this: http://avgk04.deviantart.com/art/Lost-K ... -460029003
http://avgk04.deviantart.com/art/Lost-P ... -429322946

So I tried googling it and all I found was this: http://godzilla-online.pl/godzilla-vs-biogodzilla/
http://forums.kaijuphile.com/showthread.php?t=3096

Have anyone heard about Godzilla vs BioGodzilla before?

Also, art of Deutalios from some book:

Also, maybe not the right topic, but Ultra-kaiju have several cameos in Godzilla vs Gigan manga (Kingsaurus III and probably Gabora) and in Rebirth of Mothra book (Gamora & Kingsaurus III on the first scan and Telesdon on a second one):

Like, why does he walk with his hands facing palm up? That looks so awkward.

The plot twist is Godzilla's just looking for his damn car. His hands are facing palm up as if telling the world 'What the skreeonk'

I wouldn't be surprised if BioGodzilla was more of a fan-fic creation. Only taking this with a grain of salt until reliable sources prove otherwise. Because the likelyhood of the likes of Cybersaur and Ghost Godzilla appearing are really minimal.

The very first time I ever logged on to the World Wide Web, I went looking around for all stuff either related to Godzilla , or horror movies in general. I had learned about the BioGodzilla project on a website called Barry's Temple of Godzilla. I have to admit reading about it, especially with Dark Horse's Cybersaur, whom I'm a fan of. That it indeed sounded like a fan-fic creation. Also one of the reasons the project sounds bogus also stems from Ghost Godzilla. Originally, in the course of the development of the flick that would end up becoming GODZILLA Vs. DESTROYAH, the unquiet spirit of the original Godzilla was one of the candidates for Heisei-G's final opponent. But with Godzilla's last two opponents, Mechagodzilla, and SpaceGodzilla, two other clones of the Big-G. It was decided twice was enough, and the Big Bad ended up being Destroyah as we now know. Although maybe a few years of Godzilla's absence from the Japanese theaters might've made the producers less adverse to another flick featuring Godzilla doppelgangers.

Man, I used to visit Barry's Temple all the time! That site was really cool!
I can't believe that Godzilla was the only surviving member of its species, but if we continue conducting nuclear tests, it's possible that another Godzilla might appear somewhere in the world again.

^Barry's Temple of Godzilla was awesome back in the day. Rodan's Roost, Chris N's Godzilla Saga, Gamera's Shrine... classy sites.

It's one of quite a few concept pieces for Bagan. For that one... I think that's when they wanted to make him the totem version? Gonna have to translate those pages someday. You can find a bunch of the pics here: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set ... 680&type=3

This one's probably my fave of the batch -

Sooooooo
I can't remember how I got around to this part of the net that I did, but I THINK I may've found two pieces of concept artwork for 1980's Bagan:

(sourced)

I can't find anything regarding these pieces, like where they may've originated. That first one might be from a magazine...? Maybe? Good luck try digging up info on these things. But if they're legit, I have a MUCH greater appreciation for Bagan's unused split form!

Quite honestly a lot of Bagan's proposed designs aren't bad at all and I'd love to see some of the design aspects reused for newer monsters in future Godzilla flicks.

On a random tangent, would anyone know where this concept picture for Dogolas came from...?
Image

I'm guessing a book, but I have no idea where to begin to look.

Anyway, here's a (very) old concept piece of Mothra. She would've looked very different if she'd gone with the traditional man-in-suit style:

A design that radically different might have altered Mothra's personality. Instead of being the majestic, benevolent deity she is in the actual film, she may have been cast a truly monstrous being more akin to other kaiju. A lot of early art work of Mothra doesn't depict her as the elegant character we see in canon, this image looks like something along those lines.
