Overrated/Underrated Toho movies

By the way Godzilla's Revenge is FAR better than that pile of skreeonk you call Godzilla: Final Wars.

I would say something, but I know I'm going to get attack by people who like Godzilla's Revenge. Better than Final Wars though? That's like saying the Die Hard sequels are better than the first movie. At least Godzilla's not stock footage 75% of the time.

Eh, I wouldn't worry. AMA isn't in any danger of losing its place as the series whipping boy anytime soon.

At least you won't miss Godzilla if you don't blink during GODZILLA'S REVENGE.

Godzilla is still a pretty constant presence during the last third of the movie though. If you blink, you'll miss the other monsters though.

Revenge may be a low budget childrens film, but at least it's sincere about what it is, and is basically harmless. GFW was a critical and financial bomb that flat out killed the franchise for a decade.

Plus, final wars is boring as hell. There's not a whole bunch to say about it, IMO.

Killed the franchise? It's called Godzilla FINAL Wars for a reason. It doesn't have the word final flat-out in the title because it's the first Godzilla movie.

I know I shouldn't keep the GFW discussion going, but it's something that grinds my gears.

- Godzilla vs Space Godzilla
- Godzilla vs Megaguirus

I thought all three of those were alright; good in some respects and weak in others. But for some reason, they seem to get a lot of dislike.

Underrated: Godzilla vs Space Godzilla

I honestly have no idea why so many people hated this film.
Yeah it has it's problems, but it doesn't seem like it that would appear in the top 5 worst Godzilla movies.
I don't know maybe it was the UFO catcher screen.

Overrated: Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah

I'm gonna try hard one more time to enjoy this movie when the Blu-ray arrives but it's the only Godzilla movie so far that I strongly dislike (as opposed to just thinking "meh, this sucks but whatever").

Underrated: Godzilla vs. Mothra

Bundled together with GvKG is a movie I'm surprised to see get lukewarm reviews at best, despite it being the most financially successful Heisei film. I love Mothra so I'm a bit biased and it is pretty much a rehash of Mothra & Mothra vs. Godzilla (except for the parts with Battra) but I still think it's one of the best 90s Godzilla films.

More to come as I rewatch parts of the series on Blu-ray...
