Godzilla 1985: The scream and the the music and the narration that just did it to me.

Godzilla vs Destroyer: I cried when Godzilla melted down, Jr's death I was too hipped up on Godzilla battling Destroyer for revenge to cry.

Again, while not making me cry, that certainly left a lump in my (very manly, beard-covered) throat.

None. I didn't see any of the sadder ones until I was a teenager.

Godzilla vs. Destroyrah, definately. Not really a Godzilla movie, but the first Rebirth of Mothra movie made me tear up when Mothra is going under the sea while a helpless Leo tries to help her.

Out of the two movies you mentioned Godzilla is the only one that died and that was in Destroyer.

I've never come across a Godzilla moment that made me cry. But there are plenty that pissed me off...

I used to cry the first couple of times I watched GODZILLA 1985 way back in the day. Keep in mind, I was four, so cut me some slack.

And Godzilla Final Wars, because it was the last Godzilla movie for along time. And yes, I like Godzilla Final Wars

GvsD and the original I've had that lump feeling going on...

As for films where I actually cried, the only Toho film where that's ever happened was THE LAST WAR.

I was very sad when I had seen MG II in subs (Guess there was too much English for it to be dubbed initially) when BabyGodzilla and Azusa Gojo (the doctor lady he imprinted as his mother) separated. I hope they reunited sometimes later, with something about Azusa having a child and pointing out Junior's now a big brother.

Rebirth of Mothra with Mama Mothra's death. Leo crying under her wing got to me.

When I was little and saw Godzilla 1985 for the first time, I was definitely sad when he "dies" in the volcano in the end. Mainly because I wasn't aware there was a sequel, or any other films in the series for that matter. But no, none of them have made me cry.
