Released by Sammy in early 2007, this DVD demonstrates the gameplay of the slot machine title: Godzilla: Pachislot Wars. Distributed with a mammoth booklet, this release was intended to promote the then upcoming game. Unfortunately, this is a very simplistic and disappointing disc, featuring pretty wretched video quality, a serviceable audio presentation and no extras on the DVD itself.

 Video:

Although the encoding techniques are more or less fine, without advert signs of compression, the problem with the video track on this disc is simply the manner that it was filmed. Rather than going for a direct feed, Sammy opted to literally film a monitor running through the game. To be fair, this does allow them to show the slots turning, as they are a separate mechanic, but it also causes for a pretty unattractive video presentation. Due to the filming method, the gameplay footage looks washed out, on account of the lighting, while there is also a noticeable blue tint to the entire video. It's not unwatchable, but it's hard to imagine who felt this would have been a good way to promote the title.

 Audio:

This disc contains one audio track that is in Japanese. The audio quality is serviceable, nothing extraordinary about it but nothing stands out aversively either. Not surprisingly, the disc is totally devoid of options for the audio, such as a lack of subtitles.

 Extras:

This DVD was released with a gigantic, in terms of dimensions, booklet on the game. In fact, seeing as how the disc features no cover to it, one could say that the DVD was a supplement to the book instead of the other way around. Anyway, the book contains a nice number of screenshots from the game, a rundown of the possible outcomes and a look at the monsters featured. This aside, the DVD itself contains no bonus feature, not even a menu.

 Overview:

Bottom line, one can't complain if they were sent this disc free of charge. However, for those looking at possibly acquiring a copy on the reseller market: don't bother, unless it's primarily to look at the pictures and information included in the booklet.
