| Dark Horse's
1988 reprinting of Kazuhisa Iwata's The Return of
Godzilla manga. Dark Horse broke the manga up so
that it spanned across six issues and gave each its
own unique cover. The first comic in the series documents
Godzilla's attack on the Yahata Maru, the Shockirus'
rampage aboard the ship (there are numerous Shockirus
in the manga, unlike the film), and ends with Godzilla's
attack on the Soviet Nuclear Submarine. The cover,
by Mark A. Nelson, is adequate. The sub and the background
look nice, but Godzilla doesn't really resemble the
one from the film, or any film for that matter. This
comic also includes a single black and white "portrait"
of an artist and a girl looking out at Godzilla. It's
a nice picture, but far from worthy of the price of
the comic if you already own one of the numerous reprintings
of this manga done by Dark Horse. |
