Music By: Michiru Oshima Record Label: King Records   Running Time: 75:21 Discs: 1 Release: December 2003 CD Number: KICA-620 Comments Anthony Romero Michiru Oshima follows up her amazing score for Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla (2002) with this impressive offering for the film's sequel. For this soundtrack, Oshima presents up a number of great themes, including "The Miracle on Campus", "The Diet Building" and the incredible "Main Title". The problem with this score, though, is that it tends to retread a little too much ground from the soundtrack for the 2002 film, owing some of its best cues to reworked themes from the previous picture. It's nothing too severe, and the themes that do reappear, such as the Godzilla and Kiryu themes, are outstanding enough that repetition is never a concern. As for the film's version of "Mothra's Song", done here by actress Masami Nagasawa, it's not bad, although certainly not as pleasant as the original that was sung by Emi Ito and Yumi Ito or the Heisei series rendering of it by Sayaka Osawa and Keiko Imamura. In terms of the added material, this CD comes with two "Unused Music" tracks that cover seven cues that didn't make it into the final film. The other bonuses include four tracks dedicated to the movie's sound effects, and then a more pop oriented version of "Mothra's Song", once again done by Masami Nagasawa.
