Description

Five years after the defeat of the second Godzilla, several new programs went into effect just in case he should somehow return. For a time there was peace, but suddenly the demon of Tokyo's past emerged once more to claim the lives of the helpless. Many technologically advanced weapons were finally given the opportunity to prove their worth, one of which was a directed-energy weapon code named the MBT-92. After the Anti-Nuclear Energy Bacteria that was championed as a death blow to the Monster King proved to have no effect, it was hypothesized that the creature may be too cold for the microscopic organisms to reproduce to lethal levels. The solution: raise Godzilla's body temperature. The MBT-92 was finally given its chance to see action when it was deployed along with conventional military vehicles to keep Godzilla constrained to the electrical field generated by the M6000 T.C.System. Though the beam cannon appeared to be fulfilling its mission with aplomb, Godzilla suddenly began to turn the tide of battle and thin their ranks with his own nuclear heat ray. Breaking free of the containment area, the masers were quickly dispensed with as a newly-resurrected Biollante emerged to finish her fight with her genetic forebearer.

The MBT-92 would continue to serve the G-Force in its yearly battles against the massive monstrosities who would appear throughout the '90s. Along with the MBAW-93, ASTOL-MB93, and the DAG-MB96, these supposed symbols of military might would ultimately prove to be a vast waste of resources. The MBT-92's one chance of accomplishing something extraordinary had long since passed back in 1989.
